Aziraphale comes in from a pleasant walk around town and finds Maia in the shop.

"My dear, I'm so sorry to keep you waiting! Please sit down. Would you like a snack?"

Maia sits, her hands working nervously in her lap. "No, no thank you. You said you had something to tell me. Has he answered? About Diana?"

Aziraphale's eyes widen at the question, and then he turn a little pink. "Ah, no, that is, that wasn't why I wanted to talk to you." He sits in the other chair, nervous now as well. "I...have to go away for a little while. Possibly a few weeks."

Maia's eyes are downcast at her hands, she breathes for a moment and gains control of her emotions and looks back up calmly. "Oh. Where are you going?" Maia fights to keep her hands under control and keep the disappointment from her face.

"I...really I'm not certain. Back to London to start with. After that...well, I'm not sure. There are some things I need to look into."

He reaches across and takes Maia's hand. "I'll try to see what I can find out about Diana. But, please understand that I can't promise anything."

[OOC: I'm going to be a little slow for a while -- packing and supper.]

Maia nods slowly and swallows. "I know. You've been a wonderful friend to me and I know your doing everything you can to help." Maia squeezes his hand. "I am so glad I met you that night in the coffee shop."

((OOC: no problem I know you must be beyond excited about the trip))

"Thank you, Maia. I'm glad as well." He smiles, relieved that he hasn't upset her. "I was hoping you might be willing to hold on to the keys to my shop while I'm gone. There are two sets. Marty Blank offered to run the business end of things for a little while, so he'll have one set. I'd like you to keep the other."

[OOC: Beyond excited and swiftly moving into freaking out!]

Maia's mouth falls open slightly "Me, you want me." Maia smiles sweetly. "Thank you. That means so much to me. I will keep a very close eye on it for you."

((OOC: Squee!!! is excited for you. I leave for l.a. in two weeks I am already getting excited!!! YAY for fun trips all around))

Aziraphale's smile deepens and he nods. "Yes, I know you will. That's why I wanted to ask. And you know you'll be welcome here any time you like. There's a small kitchen in back if you want to use it. You're also welcome to borrow any of my books that you like. Except for the ones in the locked cabinets, of course, but you won't be able to get into those anyway."

Maia's eyes went to the lock cabinets and bites her lip. "what kind of books are they? in the cabinet?" she hesitates "in case someone asks."

"Ah, they're books that I prefer not to sell unless I'm quite certain about the...integrity of the customer. For instance, if someone asks you for a book that...tells about different types of zombies, I likely will have something they can purchase. However, if they come looking for a book on how to raise zombies, you'll have to turn them away."

He pauses. "Not that I have any books on raising zombies, mind you."

Maia laughs for a moment. "Do you have books on other things? Like rising dead people type thing? or just books that are really important.." Maia's curiosity is peeked now.

Aziraphale looks at Maia very sternly, but his eyes are twinkling. "I do not have any books on any subject related to raising the dead, young lady. So just put that idea right out of your head." He smiles, and looks across the room at the bookcases. "I have...books. Some are what I suppose you could call important, books on history and religion and science. Some are simply interesting, or rare, or both."

Maia pouts and sighs. "S'ok I saw an episode on television once about this girl that tried to raise her mom from the dead and it was a zombie or something that came back." Maia stops "I wouldn't want Diana to be a zombie." She stares into space for a moment. "Shes not there at all you know. In the future. Dont worry I won't raise her or get someone to raise her. She's not there. She wont be." Maia picks at invisible lint on her pant leg.

"She is there, Maia. Maybe not with you, but her soul will still exist."

Maia nods her hands still working against each other in her lap. She does not want to think of Diana, her eyes stray again to the books. "What kind of history Aziraphale?" Maia turns finally to look at him "Your history?"

"Well, no, what you might call my history has never been written down. But...your history is there. The history of your people, the places they originated. The history of humanity." He smiles at Maia. "Also, the odd romance."

Maia laughs at the last part. "Romance. Now that is something that makes me smile." Maia smiles at a thought "You know for all the terrible stuff I see. When I see love in the future, it makes the terrible stuff not seem so terrible." Maia leans back into the chair. "I think it is a shame that Angels can't love on the level that humans do."

((OOC: MUN is going to go to bed soon due to LONG lines at Red Cross tomorrow and I need to get my vouchers. Have an AMAZING trip. Maia will miss you terribly as Diana is going to be killed while your away. Leading to the reason Maia goes away for 11 days while I am in L.A. Unless that is your angle for working Crowley in etc.. let me know before you leave for Spain. Again have a safe and wonderful trip. ))

Aziraphale smiles, although not quite as brightly as before. "Angels love on other levels, though."

[OOC: The main reason Aziraphale is going out of town is to do some research for a project that Marty and Angela asked him about. But he is going to look into things with Diana, as he promised. He'll be devastated to learn that it happened while he was gone. Poor Maia!

I hope you have a great trip to L.A. as well!]

Maia smiles. "I think if all the angels are like you. It is a very nice love that they have." Maia squeezes Aziraphales hand. "what if someone from the Old Firm comes by?"

((OOC: need to go to bed. Have a safe trip. much angst when you return *smiles* Maybe I will spare Maia for a while until you return.. I dunno. It just seems so damn cruel of me. Ok so Safe trip Hurry Home. Find internet cafe's and place a 'call' to Maia's voice mail. OMG MUN is having AZIRAPHALE withdraw already.))

[OOC: You're so sweet! I'm going to miss talking to Maia too!]

Marty walks into Aziraphale's store and gives Mr. Phale a small smile and a friendly wave. He seems a little... out of sorts.

"How are you today Mr. Phale? I was wondering if you might be able to help me with something."
