Spike's Pub - Monday Afternoon October 3

The heavy curtains were in place over the windows and doors of Spike's Pub, despite the carefully tinted glass, as they always were before sundown. The doors were, however, open, leaving the two weighted curtains as all that stood between the owner and sunlight. Outside the door was a sign that read 'Closed till further notice' and inside there was an extremely irate monologue.

Spike, mop in hand, was cleaning the pub with something akin to vengence. Every slap of the mop against the floor was punctuated by a snarl and yet another item in his growing diatribe.

"Damn teenagers." Splash. "Comin' in here in a bloody herd." The soft, vitriol was interrupted by a loud, cranking noise. "Treatin' the place as if it's a damn nightclub instead of a bleedin' pub." The mop slapped against the floor loudly. "Come in here, get totally wasted, for which I will probably be brought up on charges, thank-you-oh-so-very-much, and what part of subtle do they not get?"

The sound of moving furniture followed for a bit before his monologue resumed. "What, now it's sexy to be falling down drunk and dressed like a complete whore?" There was a pause which was undoubtedly filled by various mental images of Drusilla, dressed somewhat more tastefully, and Spike actually sounded more cheerful when he began muttering again. "Stupid, drunk teenagers with their stupid, drunk carryings on and their half-assed parties which leave a bleedin' pig-sty to be cleaned. From now on, there's going to be a surcharge for idiotic, pre-pubescent carrings-on, and a bloody great fee if anyone wants to hold a damn underaged drinking party on the premesis...."

Bored. Bored and full of energy, the brothers decided a trip into town was due.

They roared through, the mighty machines rumbling as they slowed to take in the available stores. Kadaj pointed out the town fountain but said nothing.

Nothing need be said. They just knew…but for another time. With a tap from Yazoo to get Kadaj’s attention, he pointed to just the perfect place.

A small pub with the lights on and someone moving around just inside the door. If they wanted to find out what was going on in town that might be interesting, a pub would be the place.

Backing into the spaces, they lined up and put the kickstands down. Their leather creaked as they pushed in through the door of the pub, looking at the 'closed' sign long enough to smirk...and ignore it. With a look over his shoulder, Kadaj motioned to the door and Loz immediately closed it and turned the key, locking it behind them.

Yazoo picked out a table, stepping over the debris, and collapsed bonelessly into the chair. He kicked out and another chair slid, Kadaj neatly slipping into it.

“Hey, old man,” Kadaj said, watching Loz take up a third chair facing the door. “Open for newcomers?”

Spike leaned on his mop, eyeing the new arrivals thoughtfully. "New in town, are you?" They'd have to be. He'd certainly have noticed these three before. They also either couldn't read or didn't care. Gauging his own mood, he decided to make an issue of it. "Sign says, 'Closed', genius."

"Door was open," Yazoo said, his head tilting to watch the mopping. He leaned down to pick up a bottle top off the floor and he worked on it to straighten it up again.

*Paige pokes her head in careful not to let in any sunlight* Want a hand Spike?

Keeping an eye on the three men, Spike gestured to Paige. "Sure thing, girl. Take a look behind the bar, see how much we're going to have to order to make up for last night's orgy."

*Paige smiles slighty* Sure thing boss

*She goes through what should be there and what actually is, making notes of what they're out of*

There's still some vodka and the mixers seem ok, so what happened last night?

The girl that came in caught Loz's attention. He kicked at Kadaj under the table and received a small shrug and a wave. Grinning, he stood and went to the door to lock it behind her, also, to take a quick look out the window to see if anyone else might be coming in behind her.

He turned and walked up to the bar to leer Paige. "Is there anything left to drink?"

*Paige looks at the new guy with a wearily* There's vodka, mixers and beer, what do you want?

*she then laughs slightly* Oh and if you think you've got me trapped in here you're wrong, sorry

"A great gathering of hormone-crazed nitwits happened last night," Spike told Paige, giving Loz a dirty look.

"You, the large, ape-like one. We're closed," and he shot a second dirty look at Yazoo, "door unlocked or not. Out."

*Paige smiles at Spike* Thanks, so yeah it looks like they pretty much cleared you out, but you must have made a ton right?

*she sighs* I'm having a crappy day, mind if I pour myself one? *she nods towards the vodka*

"We're paying customers," Loz said, his gaze raking down Paige's body before he turned to look at the man with a scowl. Strong words for such a scrawny body, and he leaned casually against the bar.

Yazoo laughed softly and flicked the bottle cap over toward Spike to bounce off the mop handle.

"Help yourself," Spike muttered to Paige, snatching the bottle cap out of the air. "You're not payin' customers because I'm not open. Out. Next request won't be so polite." The last word was a definite sneer.

*Paige pours herself a large vodka keeping an eye on the new group and feeling very glad Spike was there*

"We're new and this is how new residents get treated," Yazoo said with a sharp smile. He pushed back from the table to clear the gunblade at his thigh. "We just want a drink and to find out what there is to do in this backward town."

Loz pushed to stand, his fingers flexing. "An old man and his mop, I say let's play."

Standing, Kadaj moved to block the door, his arms crossed over his chest. He watched, his eyes peeking from beneath his hair. There was more to the old man than Loz was considering but his brother was no lightweight in a fight.

"This could be fun," he said with a sly smile.

"Fun?" Spike's voice was incredulous. "And here I was, thinkin' my opinion of the younger generation could drop no further." He pointed his mop at Yazoo, "Draw that weapon in here and they'll never even find a body."

*Paige raises an eyebrow* You want to be treated well then treat us with a little respect.

*she smiles at them and looks over at Spike* You have no idea what you're talking about do you?

*She takes a deep breath* "want me to stay Spike?" she asks him

Spike was scowling. "No, pet, I think I want you to go call my insurance agents. The card's under the edge of the register. Give us about ten minutes, hmm?"

*Paige nods and pulls out the card* If you're sure I'll be back in a while.

*she looks at the guys and orbs out smiling slightly*

Kadaj found her little trick quite amusing but out of sight, out of mind and he focused on his brothers.

They had been on the road, lost in this...'place' and had built up a head of energy that needed expending.

Under Spike's warning, Yazoo spread his hands away from his body. He kicked the chair out from under himself when he stood.

His brother, Loz, however, gave him no opportunity to say anything. His arm glowed and faster than the eye could see, Loz headed straight for Spike, his fist pulled back and landing square in the middle of the man’s chest.

Not pulled, his full weight and force went behind it and connected with a meaty smack.

Spike went flying, unprepared for the force of impact and crashing bodily into the nearest table. Vampire and furniture skidded across the stone floor, finally halting against the bar. There was the barest of pauses before Spike rose to his feet, eyes glowing and face distorted, rolling his shoulders and favoring the three brothers with a snarl.

"Now you've gone and fucking done it." He smiled, slowly. "Not human, eh? That puts a different face on things, now doesn't it?"

He sprang at Loz, not going for a body blow - the other man's much larger mass would make that difficult if he held even half the strength that his earlier promise. Spike's hands closed around his wrist and he turned and twisted, viciously, before aiming a solid kick at Loz's stomach.

The kick hit what Spike aimed for and Loz doubled over with the wind knocked from him. He turned his hand so he too had a hold on Spike but was still sucking for air.

Yazoo, not to be left out of the fun, leapt up over Loz’s back and aimed two vicious kicks to Spike’s head.

[identity profile] ac-brothers.livejournal.com 2005-10-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
With Yazoo over the top and Spike sliding beneath, Loz gritted his teeth and yanked hard against the hold on his wrist to break the grip. He was still going down as he had been pulled off balance but he would not be tethered to the old man who showed surprising ingenuity.

A leap and a twirl had Yazoo landing right in front of his brother and he danced out of the way as Loz rolled to the floor. Out of the way, he swept up a chair and was swinging it toward where he thought Spike would end up.

[identity profile] ac-brothers.livejournal.com 2005-10-04 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
With a growl, Loz lunged for Spike aiming his shoulder for the man’s solar plexus, not so much to wind him as to gain leverage to lift them both up and over the bar.

…or through it.

Kadaj stayed at the door, his gaze fixed on, not the fight – his brothers were more than capable of taking care of themselves, but on the old man. Even he had to admit he might have misjudged him. The old man held an unnatural grace that could only come from decades of fighting and yet…the man really didn’t look that old.

In the air again, Yazoo was on the bar, part of the broken chair in his hands and he hooked it beneath Spike’s chin to pull upward.

Catching Spike’s foot in his face, Yazoo’s head jerked up and he lost his hold on his chair bit and choke hold on Spike. Stepping back, he landed heavily in the floor behind the bar, trying to get his legs under him again.

Loz hooked his hands beneath Spike’s thighs to lift him up and take away his leverage.

"You can't be in the sun," Kadaj said, his curiosity getting the better of him. He could hear Loz and Yazoo making their way back into the pub and he kept them waved off so he could concentrate on the old man. The marks were not like Geostigma and they had appeared suddenly once the sunlight had hit him.

The old man had put up a good fight and no doubt would have kicked their asses if he hadn't been so worried about his pub.

[identity profile] ac-brothers.livejournal.com 2005-10-04 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Kadaj rose to stand as well, looking over the damage his brothers had done. He wasn’t particularly sorry even if it was their fault. At least they had blown off some steam, which had been sorely needed.

But they had trashed the place, even though the old man had given as good as he got…and against two.

Tilting his head to watch Spike for a moment, Kadaj’s hand strayed to his wrist and brush over the leather, giving him an idea. He walked to Yazoo and tapped on his wrist in a silent command.

Yazoo looked up at Kadaj, over at the old man, then back up at Kadaj in understanding, releasing the latch on the bracelet that circled his wrist and holding it out to Kadaj.

In one of the few chairs left righted, Kadaj settled down into it and started to work.

[identity profile] ac-brothers.livejournal.com 2005-10-04 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Loz glared at Spike in return, large gashes on his forehead and chest that were already starting to heal. He sat, sulking at the table with Yazoo, who appeared to be lounging casually, his hand resting on his gun.

After a few minutes of silence, his fingers working delicately over the soft metal, the item began to glow in an unearthly dark purple. A few adjustments and Kadaj put his knife away and went to the bar, holding it out for Spike to take. “For the mess,” he said plainly.

After a good half an hour Paige walked back in shaking her head, "Spike you here? Want me to fix this place up? I can do it and you can open up again, but I need a night or two off, just call down and I'll do it now."

Paige sighs and leaves a note call me if you need this fixing quick, Paige
