Despite the early closing last night, Perkolator looks clean and ready for customers. People in line may notice that there is now a half-door to get behind the counter, and it creaks when it swing open or closed.

Sydney decides to go into town for a nice cup of something caffeinated, she won't drink too much for the baby's sake but she wanted to get away from campus for a little bit.

Smith looks up as the door opens and sees the girl walk in. She does her customary once-over and notices something.

"Morning, miss. What can I get you today?"

Sydney ponders this for a few minutes, a bit hesitantly. "Uh I think I'll get a hot chocolate." she decides, that couldn't be too bad, right?

Smith pulls a bag of Wonka's Chocolate brand Cocoa powder from under the work counter and sets it on top of said counter.

"You want it straight up, or with flavoring? We've got peppermint, raspberry, orange and cinnamon right now."

"Raspberry sounds good, thanks." Sydney says pleasantly. She's surprised she hasn't been in here before, it's a nice place.

Smith pours milk into a small metal pitcher and sets it on a hot plate.

"It'll be about 5 minutes for the milk to heat up. Anything else I can get you while you're waiting?"

Smith nods at the display case, which is currently showcasing a selection of muffins and some small linen bags with Wonka's Chocolate-covered Espresso Beans printed on them.

Sydney decides she should probably eat something too. "Well maybe just a blueberry muffin for now..."

Smith pulls out a largeish blueberry muffin and sets it on a plate.

"Go take a load off and I'll bring out your drink when it's ready."

Sydney nods, taking the plate and finding a seat. She puts a hand on her stomach.

Smith sees the motion, which strongly supports her belief. When the milk is ready, she scoops some cocoa powder into a glass, pours in the milk, spoons in some raspberry flavoring, then stirs it all together into a creamily delicious drink.

She brings it over to Sydney, sets it down and asks, "How far along are you?"

"Is it that obvious?" Syd asks. She thought she was hiding it well.

Smith shrugs.

"Not really. I just had to be very observant in my old job.

"For instance, you're slightly thicker in the middle than is usual for the rest of your build. When you walk, you subtly and unconsciously protect your belly. And when you sat down, you briefly cradled your stomach.

"If you aren't trained in observation OR looking for it, it isn't noticeable. Yet."

"Four months...and if people can't tell yet, its just because of my oversized shirts" Sydney tells her. She knows soon everyone will know.

Smith thinks for a sec.

"I don't know if you have any maternity clothes yet, but check out The Emporium. They seem to be able to order anything they don't have in stock. And if you like, I can check my world for some fashions; I think that I heard something about fashionable stuff coming out, none of that flowered muumuu crap."

The idea of wearing maternity clothes didn't sit too well with Sydney, but she knew soon she'd have no choice. "Thanks.." she says quietly.

Smith briefly looks like she's remembering an unpleasant memory.

"No problem, kid. You obviously have a 'situation' going on and I know what it's like to not have control when you desperately want it.

"Lemme see what I can find from back home. Come back in sometime and I'll see what I can do.

"By the way, I'm Mrs. Smith. Nice to meet you."

"I'm Sydney Bristow, it's nice to meet you too." Sydney says, she senses that she is not the only one who is missing someone, that Mrs. Smith just might be too.

(OOC: There is a "Mr. Smith", but he's almost always (legitimately) out-of-town and "Jane" is getting more and more tired of it. So Sydney's sorta right in her impression.)

This isn't actually Mr. & Mrs. Smith from the movie, although I thought about running them that way. Instead, they're from a book series that doesn't have much of a fandom, from what I can tell. Jane does have special abilities, as demonstrated during Zombie Weekend, but only Duce, Wednesday and possibly Shane know about them yet.

So far, Duce's player is the only one who's figured out who I am. ;-)
