At the Fountain

Jake's sitting by the fountain, waiting for Chihaya to show up so they can go check out the Magic Furniture. Who knows? They might be able to help. She's got her notebook in her lap, a pen in one hand and a coffeemug in the other.

Once Chihaya was done with work, he zipped out of the store with a wave and ran to meet Jake at the fountain. Seeing him her sitting there, he dropped onto the ground next to her and sighed. "Sorry I'm late! Had some last minute stocking before I could leave."

"Hey, it's cool." Jake looked up when she heard him arriving, putting her pen down. "Been doing homework and stuff."



(ooc: I have to go to bed. bah. and we need to poke Devon into opening the Magic Cupboard tomorrow. But continue tomorrow?)

"That's great!" Chihaya stretched his legs out and wiggled at his feet. "I'll do mine tonight. You said there was a magic shop in town?"

Jake nodded. "Walked past it once or twice. Never been in it though. I'm very low on freaky magical powers --" She realised she had no idea if Chihaya had freaky magical powers or not. "--Uh, no offence."

"No offense!" Chihaya chirped back. "I don't think I have freaky magical powers. Just wings and healing." He shrugged. "That's about it."

"I know mutants who have that," Jake commented. "Although not both at once." She stuffed her notebook and pen into her backpack, and shifted to sit more comfortably with her coffee cup. "So where are you from, anyway?"

"This really is a wacky place to go to school," he remarked jokingly.

Chihaya sat up and crossed his legs under him. "Depends. Officially for my application to school, from Japan. Originally, I'm from a place called Eden. But we're not allowed to go back there anymore."

"Eden?" Jake's eyebrows arched in surprise. "As in Garden of..?"

"Weeeell, I'm not really sure if it's the same Eden as in Earthian religious lore. Where I'm from it's more like a ... " Chihaya's nose wrinkled, "planet, I guess. All of us in Eden are angels. But it was a very pretty garden-like planet so..." he grinned and shrugged. "Who knows if our existance wasn't the basis of the Garden of Eden. We have been watching Earthians for a very long time."

"Could be. The universe is a strange and wonderful place, after all." Jake was taking in Chihaya's facial expressions, storing them in her head for later use. Looking absolutely innocent and adorable could come in handy at some point. She wasn't really aware of doing it, however. "You're all angels? Like, are the wings of all of you black or do you have different colours? Because where I'm from, angels usually have white wings." Jake winkled her nose, unconsciously echoing Chihaya. "Multicoloured wings would be awesome."

Chihaya's face dropped and he looked down to fuss with his shoe. "All the angels in Eden are beautiful. They all have blond hair and white wings and are the brightest, most glorious beings I've ever seen. I'm the only one that was born with black hair and wings."

"Not multicoloured?" Jake was loath to give up the idea now that she'd got it. She grinned as something occoured to her. "So you actually are a unique snowflake. Awesome."

"A unique snowflake?" Chihaya's expression opened up. He couldn't hardly think of it like that. Not when his kind got dark hair and wings right before they died. Still, Jake didn't seem to think it was particularly bad, unlike the other angels. It actually made him giggle and he hunched his shoulders. "I guess I am, in a way."

The thought of multicolored wings made him giggle harder.
