Thursday
Lilah stared out the window at the idyllic looking town, appreciating the placid appearance that disguised a rotting core. After spending several days observing the town (and hiding from zombies), she'd determined that Fandom had a great deal of unrealized potential to be higher on the evil radar than it was. She'd taken the transfer with the understanding that she would generate new business, but had been called on the carpet by the Senior Partners for her inability to produce results.
Not that she was sure what else they could do to her--she was already dead, and they owned her soul until the end of eternity.
She pouted as she unlocked the door of the office for the day. She'd been summoned to L.A. for a few days and had been bound to the building, unable to shop for shoes. That had stung. Bastards.

Lilah exits her office, carrying a nail file. This should be interesting. "Hello. May I help you?"

Well, then. This was definitely someone to keep an eye on. The Senior Partners had said nothing to her about any teenage girls other than the two slayers.
She smirks again, somewhat condescendingly. "No, I'm not a vampire, sweetie. And I'm what you might call 'alternatively alive.' Can I do anything for you, or are you just sightseeing?"

She leaned against one of the desks and crossed her legs at the ankles. "No, no problem at all. A distraction is just what I was looking for."

"Boring day then?" Maia crosses in front of Lilah peering at the bookcases reading some of the spines.."What kind of lawfirm is this?" Maia says after seeing some of the titles on the books.

Lilah fought herself not to physically turn this girl away from the books. Something about her just sat wrong. Besides, she was way too perceptive for a teenager.
"We specialize in clients who prefer their lawyers to operate with a high degree of
impunitysecrecydiscretion, but they're a very diverse group."She cocked her head. "Why aren't you in class?"

"If they can afford us
or can provide us with something useful in exchange for our services, they are."She shrugged and raised an eyebrow, but there was no other change in her expression. "We happen to service a unique niche in the legal community, yes."

Save a life? Boy, was this kid in the wrong building.
"Of course they can. As for your trust, I don't know how to prove myself to you except your asking for something and my making it happen."
She smirked, but it looked a little unsure. "Unless you have a better idea?"

Without checking to see that Maia followed her into the windowless enclosure, Lilah walked to her desk and took a seat behind it, getting out a pen and a legal pad. "Tell me."

She pretends that's all there is to the question.
