Friday Morning, the Emporium
The sign on the front door says: "Closing early for Fandom Townie gathering"
Three other signs still hang in the window:
"Fandom Townie meet-and-greet party, Friday night
Feel free to stop by while the kids are busy at Homecoming,
come meet your fellow community business owners.
Food and drink will be served."
"Homecoming Special -- last day: free pack of condoms with purchase over $10."
"Now available, in case of unexpected 'guests': cricket bats ($20 each -- bargain priced!) and assorted ammunition."
Michael sits behind the counter, making a list of things that need to be done before the party, as Ben starts shifting some of the mobile display cases.
(ooc: Should we play out the townie party on
fandomtownies or
bens_mikey? Suggestions/preferences welcome. I'll still put a link post on
fandomtownies even if it's played out on Michael's journal. Will try to have the starting post up by 3 pm PT.)

*wanders back to hair care section*
*finds and hands over curling tongs*
'Super Ultimate Hold.' I think that's as high as they go. *holds up containers* Pump spray or aerosol?

*picks up two of the aerosol cans, and gestures for Paige to head back to the counter*
Need anything else?

I hope you have a great time. It sounds like there will be a lot of people, so it should be exciting.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Geoff makes it in time.
I will definitely have fun. It'll be nice to meet people in a non-shopkeeper capacity.

After a nod to Michael, they go first to the clothing section, where he picks up a grey fedora that had caught his eye earlier to match the suit he'd ordered over the computer nets. He tries the flip manuever he saw in a 2d, and manages to get it on his head the first time, without dropping it. Chewbacca snorts.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh. I'll get better, and it looks good."
They head to produce and pick up an onion, a bulb of garlic, and a pattypan squash. At the meat counter, there is a lengthy discussion, but eventually they settle on a half pound of lamb chops. Han pulls a half-gallon of Minute-Maid Lemonade from the dairy case and adds it to the order.
He brings the basket to the register. "I think that's everything."

*gestures to hat*
Getting ready for Homecoming?

Han makes a face at the groceries. "My boyfriend thinks I can cook. I can't let him down."

Han pays for his stuff, and turns to Chewbacca. "Let's go get the flowers."

He reclined against the counter to wait for the owner.
Yazoo found a small toy car and was examining it closely, the wheels fascinating him as they actually turned. "Matchbox," he said slowly, reading the packaging.
Staying back at the door, Kadaj leaned against a shelf and watched the traffic go by.

*lifts a rather heavy package from behind the counter and puts it on the counter*
*notices Yazoo playing with the toy car and decides to be friendly/generous*
You can have that, if you'd like.

Kadaj waited until Yazoo was outside before tapping at the sign announcing the party. "Have fun," he said over his shoulder.

*to Kadaj* Thanks. We will.

The basket makes a decided thump on the counter when she finally makes it to the cash register.

Stocking up?
*rings up items*
That'll be $42.25.

I broke up with my boyfriend today. And Homecoming's tonight.

She then hesitates in front of the chocolates, before grabbing a couple of bars. A packet of gum gets added before she makes it to the register

That'll be $8.97. *gestures to tea, honey and ibuprofen* Hope that's not a sign you're getting sick.
no subject
Just finished being sick... two weeks in bed with the mumps. I figured that it'd be better to replace while I can *laughs*

See you later

Hi honey! I love this party idea. Now, let me know what you need me to bring.

No, not this time, Ma. We've got enough alcohol to loosen everyone up and then some. I'm not sure who will show up to this thing, so we should probably keep this on the legal drug level.
no subject
Might make me some for later, though.

And I get it. No active ingredients. For the public. I'll bring a tuna casserole along too.
I can't stay baby. We're opening early.
