About Town, Monday Evening

Geoff can be found wandering aimlessly around town. He doesn't seem to have any particular destination in mind, and he may be just be a little bit drunk.

[He can be found in pretty much any part of town -- except for Spike's pub, and might stop into another thread or two. Anyone who wants to chat/comfort/harass him is welcome.]

Kate walks the streets tiredly, a stack of files under one arm, the other holding a cup of crappy coffee. This is a bit earlier than she'd usually get off work, but her request the last day had granted some leniency, from both herself and her superiors.

She turns a corner and sees Geoff, looking far more morose than usual, and pauses, wondering whether she should approach him.

Seeing Kate come around the corner, Geoff gives her a small smile and lifts his hand.

Kate smiles back, walking towards him.

"Hello, Geoff," she says as she gets closer. "How are you?"

Geoff gives a slight shrug. "As well as can be, Kate. How are you?"

Kate gives him a scrutinising look, but lets it pass. It's not her place to question right now.

"I'm...okay," she says, taking a sip of her coffee and wincing at the taste. "Better than I thought I'd be. How's your shop doing?"

[OOC: Oh, no, did Sonia and Beethoven eat in the cafeteria today? Sure, come along, we'll say you show up after the thread with Kate, unless you want to get in on that one instead.

Han is under the Falcon--his homework finished, down to the five page paper--banging on a landing strut. He doesn't seem to bwe accomplishing much except the noise, but he's enjoying himself. He sees a familiar figure in a yellow coat wander past.

"Yo, Geoff!" he calls.

Geoff turns around several times, trying to figure out where the voice is coming from. He doesn't seem to notice Han's feet sticking out from under the ship. From the way he staggers after the third go-around, he may also be a wee bit tipsy. "Ye-es?"

Han slides out from under the ship. "Geoff, you look terrible, pal. Better have a seat," he gestures to a chair that would be under the shade of the ship, "before a seat gets you."

Finally spotting Han, Geoff gives him a half-hearted grin and sits down. "Hey, is this one of those flying future-ships?"

"Space ship, and where I come from, she's middle-aged."

Han sits down in the chair beside him and pulls two clear bottles of purple liquid from the cooling unit. He opens them and hands one over. He takes a drink of his own.

"Tykarian beer tastes best after a night of working. My lady, the Falcon. I live aboard her."

As they're leaving the clinic, Sonia notices Geoff walking alone through the streets of the town. She nudges Beethoven to get his attention, then crosses the street to meet Chaucer. She waves a greeting, and smiles, but is conspicuously silent.

Beethoven follows, and just nods to Chaucer. He's not going to risk opening his mouth, in case more of that awful noise starts coming from it. Sonia had reassured him that they were not possesed, only under the influence of a silly prank, but he wasn't any happier about it nonetheless.

Geoff returns the nod and looks curiously at the silent pair.

Geoff sees the pair coming out of one of the buildings, and spies Sonia waving at him. He lifts his hand in response, and stops walking so they can catch up with him. "Ev'ning Sonia, Sir Beethoven."

Sonia nods again, then pulls out her notebook and quickly writes a note across the paper.

Something odd has happened to our voices. We can talk, but...well. It's hard to explain.

She makes several hand gestures, but eventually gives up. She nudges Beethoven and looks up at him imploringly, as if to say, "Well?

Beethoven glares at her, and shakes his head in a very defiant no. As her eyes narrow a bit and her expression becomes...less than friendly, though, he rolls his eyes, a sign of giving up. He takes a deep breath, and speaks. The voice that leaves his throat is his usual deep tenor, but the words are without accent and in perfect English.

"Look into his angel eyes, one look and you're hypnotized..."

Sonia joins in his singing. Like with Beethoven, there is no trace of an accent in her voice.

"He'll take your heart and you must pay the price...

Geoff is dumbfounded by the bizarre and unexpected serenading. He stares at Beethoven, obviously trying to think of something -- anything -- to say. In the end, all he can come up with is "What?"

Geoff reads the paper and gives Sonia a strange look. "You lost your voice? Both of you?"

The island wasn't small because the school wasn't, so it was no surprise Shane was having a hard time finding Geoff. She'd stopped at his place and found it empty. No sign of Paige or of him. He hadn't shown up at the diner for work and peeking through the darkened windows of his shop had also led nowhere.

Lighting herself a cigarette, Shane frowned as she walked the streets, trying to find her friend.

Geoff walks slowly down the street, mostly watching his feet and the road in the hopes in getting to where he's going without falling over something. Unfortunately, he has no idea where he's going. And as he's mostly watching his feet and the road, he doesn't see Shane until he runs right into her.

Rounding the corner, Shane is too busy looking down one street to be paying attention to the path immediately ahead of her and walks right into Geoff. "Oh! Shit!" Shane gasps, cigarette dropping from her fingers as Geoff bumps her shoulder. "Geoff!"

Geoff jumps back at her gasp, stumbling against the wall of the building. "Ow!" He rubs his shoulder and stares at the person-shaped obstacle. "Shane?"
