On a Bench in the Park, Saturday Afternoon

Geoff lies sprawled on a park bench, feet propped up on the curved metal arm. He has a sheaf of papers in his hand, on which he occasionally makes marks with a pencil.

Geoff looks up from his papers. "Doctor! Good to see you again! It is too nice a day to be inside, isn't it?"

"Why I picked a sunny bench, Doctor." His smile seems genuine enough, but his eyes look tired.

"Well enough. And you?"

Becky walks through the park, looking almost...carefree and whimsical.

That's what you'd think if you didn't know her, anyway.

She spots a blond guy on a bench and, not spotting that obnoxious wench from yesterday, smiles and approaches him.

"Hey darlin'," she drawls in perfectly pitched, childlike tones. "How're you?"

Geoff looks up from his papers. "Good day-- Rory! How's the birthday girl?" He drops the papers on the bench and jumps up, smiling.

Becky rolls her eyes. "Not Rory. I'm Becky. Apparently I have a double up at the school. Though I guess she's in color, which is...weird."

Geoff realizes that the young lady is indeed both not in color (which would be very weird, if it hadn't been for the zombie thing already) and most certainly not Rory.

He offers his hand and a conciliatory smile. "My sincere apologies, dear lady. My mistake."

With a strong cup of coffee from the Perk, Shane takes a seat on her usual bench overlooking the pond. Reaching into the pocket of her hoodie, she pulls out a couple of not-quite-stale hoagie rolls Deb had let her have as well as her cigarettes and lighter. Taking a sip of her coffee, she sets it aside on the bench and starts tearing one of the rolls in her hands, tossing small pieces to the ducks.

On her stroll through the park, Becky notices a dark-haired, thin girl sitting on a bench. Though she normally saw girls as irritating and weak - not to mention competition - she got a different feeling from this one.

"Hi," she says, walking over with her hands thrust in her pockets.

The voice is immediately familiar and yet somehow strangely not, and when Shane turns to look at the person approaching, the face is equally as familiar and yet... not. She looks like Rory, if someone had filmed her in black and white, though her eyes are a rather startling and familiar shade of blue.

"Hey," Shane says, the corner of her mouth turning up in a smile.

"I'm Becky," she says, smiling. Her voice is genuine, as is her smile. It's refreshing for her to actually not put on a show for once. "Mind if I sit?"

Hearing footsteps, Shane looks over her shoulder and when she sees Tara, she smiles. "Hey," she murmurs, sounding surprised to see her but happy to all the same.
