Luke's Diner - just after sundown

Veronica and Angelus enter the diner and take a table in the corner where they won't be disturbed.

"Thanks so much for agreeing to do this," Veronica says once they're settled. "I really hope these articles help."

"Happy to do it," Angelus told her. "I sent that email out. Looks like a good response so far."

"What can I get you?" Luke asks, walking over with an order pad. He raises an eyebrow at Angelus, but doesn't say anything. He still hasn't quite gotten over the whole blowing up the diner thing from the zombie attack.

"Good, I'll start with your guys then, and go from there. I know there are some mutants on campus and I've heard rumors of aliens. Hopefully people will come forward and volunteer to be interviewed after the articles start being published."

"I've met one alien that I know of," Angelus said. "But I don't know if they're out with it. I'm sure you can understand not wanting to betray a confidence."

Angelus considers the menu. "Got anything in a nice ribeye? Rare?"

"Well, if you wouldn't mind asking them if they'd be willing to talk to me, I would appreciate it," she says, shamelessly taking advantange by tilting her head.

"Yeah, you want mashed potatoes and green beans with that?" he asks.

"I'll take a burger, fries & a milkshake," Veronica says.

"Will do next time I see them," Angelus said damn you and your head-tilting mojo!

"And a coffee if it's not so much trouble," Angelus agreed.

"Coming right up."

"Thanks," she smiles.

"Okay, so let's get down to business," she says, taking out a tablet and a pen. "And if I cross any lines or ask any questions you aren't comfortable with, just tell me, okay?"

"Will do," Angelus leaned back in his chair. "But I trust you. You've been nicer than most already."

"Well, I know what it's like to be judged without reason," she confides.

She looks over her list of questions.

"How long have you been a vampire?"

Luke delivers the food and the coffee without saying a word. He can tell the kids are working on some sort of school project and he doesn't want to interrupt.

But he goes back to the counter and keeps an eye on Angelus. He doesn't need the kid blowing up his diner again.

Veronica smiles when Luke delivers her food, but is too busy listening to Angelus to say anything.

"Ah, good question," Angelus made room as Luke brought over his food (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomtownies/223074.html?thread=8828770#t8828770). "This is where dimensions make things tricky. I can tell you that I was born in 1753. In terms of how many years I've existed since then?" He shrugged. "Not as easy."

"You were born as a human in 1753, or turned into a vampire that year?"

"Perceptive question," he said, pointing at her with his fork before starting to cut up his steak. "In my case, it's both. My kind consider the time we were sired to be when we were born. After all, it's when we're created. Human birth is something else entirely."

Veronica scribbles that down and then looks at him curiously.

"Wow, you must have seen a lot of things in your life time."

"That's part of why I did it," Angelus said. "I wanted to see the world. I can't say I didn't get that out of the bargain."

"So you definitely had a choice in the matter, then?"

"Oh yes," Angelus nodded. "This wasn't forced upon me. I wanted it."

"How did you know it was an option?" she asks. Then she frowns. "Maybe I didn't ask that right. "How did you meet the vampire who sired you?"
