Wonka Sweets Shop - OPEN

Tonks, several leather-bound spellbooks in hand, opened the door to the candy shop and slipped inside. She cheerfully called an exuberant greeting to her employer, darting into the backroom to say hello. She traded her beat-up jean jacket for an apron, and ran her fingers over her hair - it was short and candy-pink today, coarse-cropped except for a thin pink braid that began just below her ear.

She went back into the shop and perched on the edge of the counter. Opening one of her books, she thumbed to the index. She grinned to herself and regarded the shelves of candy, before pulling out her wand. "Accio!" She chirped, causing the summoned basket of truffles to float across the room, landing on the counter next to her. "Now, let's see... cheering charms..."

Inara walked into the shop. One of her customers of the next few days had a sweet tooth. The girl sitting on the counter was a bit of a surprise, but after only a moment's hesitation, she approached.

"Uh, hi. I'm looking for a pound of truffles - I was given to understand that you stock them?"

[identity profile] serra-inara.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Spelled?" Remembering that there are magic users up at the school, Inara supposes it's reasonable to assume that there are magic users in the town, too. "Yes, just the regular kind, thank you. My job is to give ease and pleasure - the chocolate is purely an indulgence."

She pauses. "Exactly how do the spells work? Is it a general feeling or well-being, or just the urge to laugh?"

[identity profile] serra-inara.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Inara thought about it a moment. "Okay, I'll take four of the spelled ones - a gifts for some friends of mine - and the regular ones for my clients."

She watched as the young woman wrapped up the chocolates. "You're new to the town, aren't you?"

[identity profile] serra-inara.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Inara Serra," she said, shaking the offered hand. "Pleased to meet you. I guess your 'verse has magic users, then?"

[identity profile] serra-inara.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I've noticed a few magic users about the town." Inara smiles and shrugs. "Welcome to Fandom Town - if you see me in one of the shops, don't hesitate to say 'hi!'"

Kiki comes in, her broom resting on her shoulder. There's a small black cat trotting along at her side. He seems particularly fixated on the jar of Everlasting Gobstoppers.

"Hi!" she exclaims with a smile, "You're new here, aren't you? I'm Kiki," (she holds out her hand) "Sometimes I run deliveries for Mr. Wonka. Actually, I run deliveries for anybody who wants them done. Well, not run, fly, really."

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Nice to meet you, Tonks," Kiki smiles. "This is Jiji." The black cat meows. "He says hello," Kiki translates. "Although there are so many people at the school either taking Language of Cats or who have some talent to understand cats that I don't have to translate for him much anymore."

Holding out the broom in case Tonks would like to look at it closer, Kiki says, "Yes -" Kiki, normally, would add a "ma'am" here, but experience has taught her that women who look as young as Tonks does sometimes don't really like being addressed by such an "old lady" monniker, so she breaks off awkwardly. "I've been flying since I was little." The broom has obviously been made by hand, but has been well-cared for. "Do you want to learn? I could probably show you how."

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? You fly, too?" Kiki says excitedly. "That's great! You're the third one I've met in this town that can fly a broom."

She notices Tonk's fixation on the broom, Kiki says, "Would you like to give it a try? I mean, it's not the best broom in the world - I did make it myself, the way my mom taught me, but it flies well. My mom always said a witch flies best on a broom that's attuned to her - one she makes herself. But you can certainly take it out for a quick ride if Mr. Wonka doesn't mind."

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," Kiki answers, blushing at the praise. "Really, go ahead - try it. The shop is empty right now, and Jiji and I can keep an eye on things for you. If anyone comes in, I can just go out front and wave for you to come down."

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wow!" Kiki grins, "You really can fly. That was wonderful! Say, there's a Flying Club up at the school - there's two others in it who can fly broomsticks, too. It'd be great if we could get together - well, maybe not all of them, as one is kind of mean... I'm sure we'll be doing more with broomsticks later in the year, I could see if we could get special permission for you to come on campus and participate, if you wanted."

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"There are some strict rules about campus visitors," Kiki admits, "but we could always try to get permission. No harm in trying, right? My friend - " here Kiki blushes wildly "- Harry is a very good flier - much better than I am. And honestly... I do have to say that Draco flies very well, too. I don't really get along well with him. Personality clashes."

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Kiki is surprised. "Yes, it is. Have you met him before?"

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're cousins?" Kiki repeats, astonished. "But...your hair is so much more interesting," Kiki says.

"Quidditch - I keep hearing about this game, but I don't know what it is - other than it has something to do with flying. What's it like?"

[ooc: Kiki's mun knows Quidditch (total HP junkie), so you don't have to go into a detailed explanation if you don't want!]

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"We're pretty sure Draco dyes his hair. It's too blond to be natural. And even if he doesn't, it's still fun to think that he does," Kiki confides. "Quidditch sounds pretty interesting! I'll have to try it. We've got 4 fliers already, we just need a few more to field a team...and then, of course, find someone to play against."

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope, go right ahead," Kiki grins.

Jiji, recognizing a fellow trust-worthy witch, stops intently scrutinizing the jar of Everlasting Gobstoppers and scampers over to Tonks, rubbing his chin on her shoe.

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'd love to meet her sometime," Kiki grins.

Jiji purrs delightedly.

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Jiji's ears stand up a bit straighter at the mention of the female cat. Kiki grins.

"Jiji makes friends whereever he goes, and you're definitely one of them. I think he may be more eager than me to meet Rose," Kiki says.

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Definitely. And I'll talk to the other broom-fliers I know and see if we can't arrange something."

Kiki picks up the butterscotch candies. "I had better go take these to my friend," she says with a smile. "But I will certainly see you around. Don't be surprised, either, if Jiji comes to visit while I'm in class!"

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[ooc: heh, Kiki actually did have another reason for coming into the shop...]

Kiki asks, "I'm looking for some butterscotch candies, actually. Do you have any?"

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Kiki grins. "I do like them, but these are actually a present for a - well, for a new friend. We kind of got off on the wrong foot, and I'd like to make things up to him. Something tells me he's a butterscotch fan."

[ooc: no problem, glad your headache's better :-) ]

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks!" Kiki hands over money to pay for them.
