Wednesday Afternoon at the TARDIS

[Partially for broadcast. Links sent to Faith's Voicemail]

She left school a little early to prepare a proper tea. Having sat through many dull teas with diplomats, she at least knew the foods to make. She warmed the pot and boiled the water..and waited for [livejournal.com profile] ten_and_chips and [livejournal.com profile] geoff_chaucer to arrive.

[There is a knock on the TARDIS door.]

Ms Cregg. [He lifts her hand to his mouth and kisses it lightly.] A pleasure to see you again.

Of course. [He nods and follows her inside.]

((Booze run, back in a bit.))

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be delightful. [He gestures to the couch.] May I?

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[He sits on the couch, one leg on his knee.] Did you have a pleasant afternoon?

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Was that part of your job then, making quiche? [He pretends to look confused.] I thought it was all speeches and press releases.

((OOC: For anyone watching, any and all conversations that occur within the TARDIS are NFB.))

You'll be brilliant, mate, no doubt about it. [He eats another quiche, feeling a touch awkward.]

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Geoff recognizes the awkwardness, and wonders if Ten knew beforehand that CJ was inviting him. It makes him feel a bit awkward as well, and he tries to think of some way to alleviate it.] It was an interesting party last night. There really should be more of those.

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I think the impromptu factor is what made it better than most. And the atmosphere...was right. [blushes just a touch] Are you going to do Halloween this year?

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Geoff cocks his head and smiles] When exactly did All Hallows become such an important holiday? Everyone seems to be talking about it as if it were...Easter or something.

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Ten smiles at the thought.] Geoff...it's costumes. Everyone loves to dress silly. And candy. It's basically become another excuse to have a holiday in the autumn when the weather is getting cold, I think, but it's quite a lot of fun. I could go for some cider at the moment.

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
God, some mulled cider sounds fantastic! Do you think there's anyplace here that sells it? [grins] Costumes, hey? That's a new one. So...people dress in costumes and...eat candy?

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
This time of year, I'm certain you could get it anywhere. Perhaps we should throw a wee shindig of our own...

And...yes, pretty much. [He thinks, reviewing what he remembers of America in this time period.] Though the neo-pagan tradition has a holiday around this time of year that's quite serious in nature.

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Geoff nods] But that isn't what we're talking about, is it? 'Halloween', the way everyone here is celebrating it, is a more secular holiday.

[He pauses while he considers the Doctor's earlier suggestion, a smile slowly taking form.] Where will we have it? Here in the park?

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Samhain is different.

[His eyes light up.] Perhaps, though soon it'll be quite cold to have it outside for long. We'd need tents and a fire and that sort of thing...but the beach wouldn't be the right atmosphere. Perhaps for Thanksgiving...though then there wouldn't be costumes unless one wanted to dress as a Puritan or an American Indian.

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
But there's already a costume party planned, right? So, ours wouldn't need them. Something more along the lines of a harvest home, maybe? [Geoff grins, excitement in his voice]

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Aye, and that would go with the Americans' idea of Thanksgiving. Have to hold it before it gets too cold, though--late November is too close to winter.

...I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes, though.

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Why would it? Wait a week or two after the 'Halloween' party, and that still keeps us early enough in November that it should work. And, as you said, if we got tents and a bonfire...maybe some braziers in the tents... [He trails off, although it's obvious his mind is still working the project.]
