Spike's Pub is now Open

Kadaj slammed the door open and flipped on the lights. The pub needed opening and Spike was taking care of business. They were late and it pissed Kadaj off they were late.

Flicking the sign on to shine OPEN, the brothers quickly worked to open the pub.

Geoff walks into the pub, looking around as if he's expecting to find someone there. Seeing the brothers working, he gives a resigned sigh and walks up to the bar.

"If I order a beer, is one of you going to hit me?"

Yazoo turned around and watched the blond guy come in. He licked at his lips and leaned on his elbows across the bar. "Depends," he said with a quirk to his mouth. "Do you want to be hit? It's extra."

Standing at the end of the bar, Loz just crossed his arms and watched the other man.

Geoff quirks an eyebrow at Yazoo, and a little smile plays on his lips. "Then I think this time I'll pass, thanks."

"Bottle or what's on tap?" he asked, pushing up from his lean to pull down a glass.

"Tap, please." He glances out of the corner of his eye at Loz, and then turns his head to look first toward the door and then around the room.

Drawing a pint, Yazoo slid it across the bar to Geoff.

After watching Geoff for a moment, Loz pushed up from the bar and walked over to him, one hand going on the bar to brace and he leaned down.

Beneath his hand is a five and he shoved it at Yazoo, whispering in Geoff's ear. "On me."

Jumping slightly, Geoff turns his head toward Loz and gives his a long look. "Thank you," he says, with a nod. "May I ask why?"

Loz slid onto the stool next to him. "Because you've got guts."

"Bravery and foolhardiness are very close bedfellows, friend," he observes wryly. "But I thank you."

Nodding, Loz straightened on his seat and braced with his elbows. "Talk says you're a poet of some kind."

Sawyer was scheduled to meet with Chaucer at Spike's Pub, there was no harsh feelings about being hired and all he wanted was to have a talk. Noticing Loz, he took a seat opposite Chaucer, "Geoff" he nods with a small wave, looking incrediably tired.

Recognizing the young man from Deb's, Geoff gives him a wary nod. "You're James, aren't you?"

[ooc- Go ahead. He's supposed to be meeting Sawyer here, and that'll certainly be about Paige.]

Geoff watches the young man head out the door, shaking his head to himself. Once Sawyer is gone, he turns back to the beer, downs the remainder, and sighs, closing his eyes.

Watching the guy leave, Loz gestured to Yazoo and went to join Geoff again, slipping onto the stool and drinking from his own beer. "Looks like it worked out."

Geoff looks over at Loz, narrowing his eyes as he tries to figure what kind of game the man might be playing. "Well, I'm still standing up. I'd call it a good sign."

Loz looked out the door and started to laugh. "Him?" He waited until Yazoo had slipped another beer in front of Geoff, noticing the look of distrust. "Not in here."

He met Geoff's gaze. "What?"

Geoff raises his eyebrows. "What what?" He's amused at the silliness of the question, and his lips quirk slightly. His mind is tired, and he hasn't entirely decided what to think of the brothers, but he can't help appreciating a little absurdity.

"What do you mean what wha-" Loz caught himself and scowled. "Want me to leave?"

Geoff tries to hold back the laugh, but the creases that form around his eyes and the snorting sound that escapes give him away.

That wasn't a yes. It wasn't a no but Loz would take it. With an annoyed cluck of his tongue, he turned his attention back to his beer and made no attempt to get up. He was never very good at admitting he was an asshole, even though he was and he knew he was. He also didn't make it a habit to apologize for it.

Nor would he start. He really did have a small bit of appreciation the guy was willing to stand up to him, unarmed and clearly outmatched. Even if the reason he was doing so wasn't worth it in Loz's estimation.

Loz'd still beat the guy to hell if he laid hands on him again.

Geoff coughs and takes a sip of beer, then looks over at Loz. "Apologies. That just...struck me as funny. The absurdity of the conversation."

Taking a breath, he holds out his hand. "Geoff Chaucer."

Looking over, Loz set his beer down and wiped the condensation from his hand before taking Geoff's. "Loz," he said simply. He pointed to his brothers, one at a time. "Yazoo and Kadaj."

He turned back to his beer. "So you're letting that guy off the hook?"

"Off the hook for what?" Geoff nods a greeting at the other two brothers as Loz introduces them.
