falling back into life

Maia started to order a coffee then changed her mind. She didn't like coffee, she knew she had it every morning for the last two years but this morning, she didn't want it. She wanted tea.

Maia got her tea and added some cinnimon to it. She didn't know why but tea thrilled her now, all the different kinds to pick from. She walked along slowly with her tea, venturing a little further out from the school then was recommended but she felt fine. It was foggy out, she walked along the nature trail. She knew it was watching her. ignore it, Allison said ignore it Maia swallowed hard and sipped her tea. The tea really was very good, she didn't know why she had never really drank it before.

She cut through the park and saw the ducks. Anticipating this she had purchased a scone as well and broke it off into bits to feed to them. She sat on the edge of the fountain facing where the shadow was so she could see it without having to stare at it.

Paige had finally had a decent night's sleep for the first time in over week, she wasn't sure if it was the lavender stuff Ben gave her or that Sawyer had soothed her mind a little bit.

She was heading to the park to look over the pond when she saw Maia well at least I know she doesn't hate me

"Hey Maia, mind if I join you?"

Maia broke another piece of the scone off and gave it to the duck. "No not at all. How are you this morning?"

She smiles, "well I slept, which is always good and I saw James yesterday, we've agreed on an open relation, which is good I guess."

Maia smiled "Open as in, I do my thing, you do yours at the end of the night baby I'm yours type thing?"

She nods "Pretty much, I mean I'm not his at the end of the night, that would imply something much more serious than we have, but yeah at the end of it all he's the main one."

She laughs a lttle and looks at Maia "Does that sound really bad? I mean it gives us both freedown which at our age is a good thing, right? It was what Geoff seemed to think I needed"

"I think that is perfect Paige. It does not sound bad at all." Maia smiled then it faded for a moment and her eyes looked lost. Realizing this Maia quickly smiled again. "So how are things in Geoff's class?"

Paige sighs heavily "well everytime I see him I just want to hold himand tell me how sorry I am and how much I still love him, so classes are...arkward and emotion, especially since we had to bring in our favorite poem last night and say why we liked it so much. I bought in one of his, I shouldn't have, but it is my favorite."

She wipes away a tear "I miss him so much, I like James, but...I dunno."

Maia held Paiges hand. "Yeah I think James it what you need right now. We're young Paige, to young to have serious loves like you and Geoff had you know." Maia's voice sounds as though she is trying to convience herself of that statement as well referencing Sara.

She nods "Yeah I know, but I can't stop thinking about him. I mean..." she trails off, thinking about Geoff so much is doing her no good at all. "yeah I should be with James, we have things in common and he's been so supportive lately."

Maia nods, "Yesterday, I remembered everything, what happened with Sara, why I went- why I went into the dark. Since then, all I can think about is Sara and how I was glad she was not the one who found me. How glad I was it didn't happen while we were alone together. Soon Paige you'll remember the good things, bad things, they sometimes have a way of becoming less bad over time. I mean obviously we both have a long way to go you and I but it does get easier and they won't occupy our thoughts forever like they do now." Maia breakes another piece off the scone for the duck. "I am glad you have someone to support you."

Paige nods watching the ducks swim towards the bits of scone

"You're right, I know that, only it's the good times I think about, that's why I'm struggling so much, I try not to think about what happened when he went away or how he got hurt because of me."

She takes a deep breath "only that's why we broke up, because we were hurting each other even though we were in love. I can't see that happening with James, I-I just don't have the same feelings for him."

Maia tilted her head and looked at Paige. "What do you feel then?"

"It just feels...simple and nice. Like I don't have to worry about him so much, I was always so scared of Geoff getting hurt only Saywer, well he's tougher, so I don't worry so much, I mean I care about him, but he has this like hard shell to protect himself."

She looks at Maia and smiles a little "He doesn't really like people knowing how sweet he can be, or what's hapened to make him like he is." She bites her lip "I shouldn't be talking about it."

Maia smiled at Paige and then shrugged "But you need to. I think Paige thats the problem, you don't talk about the things you need to. You've been through a lot in such a short amount of time that... well I won't force you but I think talking about it is a good thing." Maia nods

She takes a deep breath "When I was possessed I hurt a lot of people only it wasn't me, but lots of people to think it was. Like what happened do so because I wanted it to. I mean Sawyer got caught up in it all more than most really, but he forgave me only Shane she-she threatened to kill me. She really believes I was hurting people on purpose.I was trying to protect people, but no one seems to understand that, Duce said the other one's powers couldn't have been stronger than mine, but they were she could have killed people and she wanted to I could feel it."

Maia sat quietly while Paige talked. "This thing, this Evil Paige, she is gone now right? For good I mean."

"I think so, I mean Mr Phale got her out, people saw the soul,which proves it wasn't me right? I don't know where it is now, but it's definitely not inside me anymore." despite what Geoff thought

Maia smiled "Well.. your not jagged anymore" Maia paused looking at Paige..."Paige... I-I can see that your not jagged.."

She smiles at Maia, "You believe it wasn't me right? I mean I might be pretty messed up but I'd never curse someone like that."

Maia starts to breathe harder. "No Paige it wasnt I mean I can see, the color around you I-" Maia shakes her head and blinks but its still there. "Your not jagged at all but I-" Maia is semi stunned into silence.

Paige looks at her worried,"What Maia? What is it?"

"I see it Paige, I've, I never have seen it before though except when I was there, in the dark." Maia glances down at her tea and frowns. "I-I need to go see Tara. Something, something isnt right Paige."

"What do you mean something isn't right? It isn't me is it? I've still got some of that soul inside have I?"

Paige looks seriously worried now

Maia sees the worry on Paiges face or rather sees the color around Paige change. "No Paige its me, its all me." Maia sounds worried and frustrated. "Your fine, your all in one piece. I need to go find Tara." Maia hurries off from where they were sitting.
