Friday afternoon at the Perk [locked to [livejournal.com profile] chloe_sullivan]

Sitting inside the Perk, Shane sips at her coffee as she waits for Chloe to show up. The past few days - like the previous week - had been a little hectic and she hadn't had any time to get together with Chloe to discuss their assignment for Ethics class.

Chloe peers inside, smiling as she spots Shane. "Hey!" she calls, heading over to her. "Darn, I was hoping I'd beat you here. Have you been waiting long?"

Shane chuckles as she slouches back in her seat. "No, just a few minutes," she murmurs. She places her mug on the table and lifts her arms up over her head as she arches her back, stretching as she gives Chloe as puzzled look. "Why were you hoping to beat me here?"

Chloe sits down to join Shane, dumping her bag under the table. "Well, I wanted to make sure you had a comfortable place to sit, and good coffee. Isn't that part of a slave's job?" She laughs. "Honestly though, I just feel bad making people wait. But I'm glad it wasn't long."

"No, you're fine," Shane says, chuckling. She lets her arms drop back into her lap, letting out a sigh. "I'm just sorry I've kept you waiting, this week. I suck."

"You don't suck. I've been busy too, with classes, and the paper, and getting things ready for Parent's Weekend. It's been kind of a long week." Chloe smiles warmly.

"Yeah, it has," she says, nodding. "Like I was telling Mike: I'm really looking forward to just... staying at home with Kate this weekend. Beer, take-out, no parents weekend stuff to worry about." She offers Chloe a faintly apologetic smile. "I'm not gonna be a very interesting person to slave for."

"Yeah, I'm excited about having a parent-free Parent's Weekend, but there's still all sorts of stuff I have to do for the paper. It should be fun though." Chloe reaches over to pat Shane's arm lightly. "Non-interesting is fine. Non-interesting means I won't have to do strange and unpleasant things."

"Oh, no... totally not," Shane says, shaking her head. She takes a sip of her coffee, frowning thoughtfully behind her mug. "So, um... wh-what should ... I mean, we should talk about... everything, I guess." She bites her lip. "Right?"

Oh good, she's just as nervous as I am about this, Chloe thinks. "Yeah, I think we still have to talk about pretty much everything."

"Okay," Shane says, the crease between her brows deepening for a moment. She takes another sip of her coffee and sets it aside, hands settling onto her knees as she slouches in her seat, fingers idly tugging at the strands of white around the torn knees of her jeans.

"Umm... I guess... well, the instruction sheet said we should think up names to use for this," she murmurs, the pensive frown settling back into place. After a moment, she looks up at Chloe and smiles a little bashfully. "I -- I can't ... I don't know -- I can't think of anything I can call you," she murmurs.

God, this is so weird... what the hell am I supposed to call her? I can't call her 'pet' or 'slave girl' or anything like that... she's my friend...

"I'm not sure of what to call you either. I'm kind of fond of 'Shane,' you know?" Chloe says, laughing softly. She tugs idly at a strand of hair, thinking. "Everything I've come up with sounds like something from a bar with lots of leather. Not that I know what those places are like," she adds quickly. "I have friends who like to talk."

Shane grins though the look in her eyes is sympathetic. "Right," she murmurs. "I've been trying to think of stuff since I got the assignment and ... nothin'. I mean... I like 'Chloe'." A thought occurs to her and she frowns. "W-what about... what about Miss Chloe? Does that sound okay?"

Thinking about it for a moment, Chloe nods. "That sounds...kind of sweet. And it's certainly formal. I think that would work within the guidelines of the assignment. Ooh, and you could be Miss Shane. Or Miss McCutcheon. Maybe that would be better. It sounds even more formal."
