Luke's Diner, Saturday
The Diner opens early Saturday morning, ready for a long, busy day. Luke is in plaid and coffee is in plentiful supply. Still accepting the 20% off coupons provided at the town meeting, of course.

Waffles it is, extra butter."

As soon as the server's gone, she says, "It's a step down from hostessing, but living here can get kind of expensive, and I kind of have some debts."

Either you are completely fooling with me or this place is so weird, the hitman is commonplace."

Evening...
"...and I just don't understand why we have to go here. Why in heaven's name there isn't a decent restaurant in this town, I'll never understand," Emily snaps, obviously continuing from an ongoing tirade.
Rory let the door fall closed behind them, and scans the diner for any sign of her mother or Luke.
Nothing. Awesome.
Re: Evening...
"Come on, Luke," she whines. "We were supposed to be home by now."
She bursts through the curtain separating the private back area from the main part of the dinner, dragging her husband by the hand.

"Hello, Lorelai," Emily greets her daughter coolly.
Re: Evening...
She shoots a look at her daughter that clearly says, 'Why the hell did you bring your grandmother here?'
Re: Evening...
Re: Evening...
"Um. You guys on your way somewhere?" she asks, looking hopeful.
Simultaneously, Emily addresses Lorelai. "Why shouldn't I be here? It's Rory's school after all. Am I not allowed to take an interest in my granddaughter's life?"
Re: Evening...
To her mother she says, "No, Mom, it's fine that you're here. I just wasn't expecting to run into you."
Re: Evening...
Re: Evening...
"Ah, yes. Why am I not surprised that the very instant I arrive, you two suddenly decide you have somewhere else to be?" Emily asks coldly.
Re: Evening...
"We didn't suddenly decide, Mom. We have plans with Sookie and Jackson tonight. We are supposed to be there in," she looks at the clock, "ten minutes and it takes us at least forty-five to make the trip back to Stars Hollow, so we're going to be late."

Re: Evening...
"And you know, Grandma, Sookie and Jackson are expecting a kid," she says, taking the focus off of Lorelai and Luke. "I'm sure you don't want to upset her at this stage in the pregnancy," she adds, leading Emily to a table.
"Well, no, of course not! That could be very dammaging to the child. I should call her and let her get the name of this amazing midwife that Susan from the DAR had deliver her babies..." Emily says, allowing herself to be seated and distracted.
Re: Evening...
"Right, so we need to go right now so we don't upset poor Sookie in her delicate condition."
She grabs Luke and heads for the door.
"Have fun, Mom. Bye Rory!"

"Allie, this is Mrs. Emily Gilmore, Rory's grandmother - good friends with my parents. This is my girlfriend, Allie Cameron."

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Gilmore," she says politely. "And hi, Rory," she smiles, holding Logan's hand very tight.

"Oh, Grandma," she says, giving a very fake little laugh, "I'm sure Allie and Logan have somewhere else to be. They're busy people."

"Yes, we just stopped by to get some... coffee to go," she says. "It was lovely meeting you, Mrs. Gilmore. And good seeing you, Rory."

She smiles sweetly at Emily, and then turns her head so that she can't see, and mouths, I am so sorry to Logan and Allie.

She takes his hand and they walk out of the diner.

"I should go back to the hotel. However, I still want to meet your other friends. Why don't you arrange a brunch for us tomorrow morning? Call me if you have any problems. Good night."
