Perkolator - Sunday afternoon

Chloe sits in the Perkolator, tapping her feet idly as she nurses her second mocha and waits for Lex. She's still surprised that she managed to catch him on the phone, and she has to admit, she's looking forward to seeing him after the past few months away from Smallville.

Lex recieves Chloe's call shortly after wrapping up with Professor Amidala and, following her directions, makes his way to the Perkolator.

"Chloe," Lex calls out happily, walking in and removing his sunglasses, "Why does it not surprise me that you know where the nearest coffee shop is?" Lex is smiling and seems genuinely sincere... for Lex

"Would it surprise you if I told you I work here too?" Chloe asks, smirking. She gets up and walks over, giving him a hug. "It's good to see you."

Lex tries not to let the hug throw him off guard. He returns it, if a bit stiffly and then draws back.

"Work here? I'm assuming the cup breaking is at a minimal?" Lex teases, "and it wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm nearly positive you personally kept the Talon in the green every time the Torch went to press. I have no idea how Mrs. Kent turns a profit without you."

Chloe beams, a little proudly. "I'm sure she's doing just fine without me. And I'll have you know I've only broken two cups while I've been here." She motions back to the table where she was sitting. "Do you want anything?"

"Cappucino, light foam, double espresso?" he asks her, "and I wsn't insinuating you were a bad waitress, just reminding you of a mutual friend's first week as a coffee waitress."

Smirking, Chloe goes off and gets Lex's order, coming back and sitting down with him. "Here you go," she says, handing him the coffee. "Speaking of said mutual friend, is Lana doing as well as you hoped to find her? This place can get kind of weird sometimes."

"I was a bit concerned when I heard she was alone in her attic dorm, but apparently she's having a friend move in with her. She seems happy, I can't check up on her grades seeing as none of her teachers are holding hours but I can't see anything wrong. She looks better than ever.

I think all of the stress in Smallville was getting to her. It's one of the reasons I was happy to help her go here. SHe needed a change and it looks like this was a good one. Of course, the boyfriend my sources tell me about might be the cause but what do I know, right?

Looks like you haven't changed though, I saw your name all over the newspaper and Journalism table at the club fair."

"Well, Lana and I don't have any classes together, so I'm not positive, but I can't remember seeing her name up on the Detention List of the Damned, so she must not be doing that badly."

"And I saw her with her boyfriend at the Homecoming Dance." Chloe smiles genuinely. "They looked happy, and he's a really sweet guy. Definitely too much of a gentleman for this era."

Chloe laughs at the mention of the newspaper. "Oh come on, you didn't honestly think I'd be able to stay away from reporting, did you? I have a really great guy for a co-editor, and it's just been fantastic."
