Pancake Supper!

A tall stack of buttermilk, blueberry or buckwheat pancakes, served with butter, syrup and your choice of two sides:

Sides:
Bacon
Ham
Biscuit
Sausage
Scrambled Eggs
Fruit cup
Cantaloupe wedge
Melon cup
Berry cup


Dessert:
Three layer chocolate cake
Fudge Brownie Pie
Blueberry Pie
Strawberry crumble bars

"Hey, Deb," Shane says, smiling a little as she slips through the door. She peels off her denim jacket and her hoodie, revealing her gray long-sleeve tee beneath it.

"Hi sweetie. How you doing this evening?" Deb waves from where she's stashing the last of the fruit-cups in the service fridge.

"Pretty good," she says, smiling as she hangs up her jackets and goes to stow away her stuff in the usual drawer, grabbing her ticket pad and pen and stuffing them in her back pocket.

She grabs a large stack of paper napkins and the tray of silverware so she can start sidework for the evening.

"We're changing the hours to meet the new curfew rules. We're going to be open 11-9, and see if we can pick up a lunch rush." Deb looks worried. "If that messes with your schedule, I'm sorry."

"No, it's okay," Shane says. "I -- I'm sitting in on a couple of classes, though. One on Monday and one on Thursday. They're both in the afternoon." She worries on her bottom lip for a moment. "I could -- if it'd be cool, I could start and then go to class and come back as soon as I'm done?"

Padme comes in, very happy as she loves pancakes and could easily eat them for any meal.

"I'd like the buttermilk pancakes please with bacon and sausage for sides if I may."

"Sure," Shane says, smiling as she writes down her order. "Something to drink with that?"

"Orange juice, please."

"Okay, no problem," she says, adding that to their check. "I'll go and put this in for you and be back out with your drinks in a minute."

Anakin came in behind her. He didn't really have an opinion on pancakes one way or another, but if Padme was happy he was happy.

"The same for me, please," he said. "And a glass of water."

He smiled at Padme. "Hi," he said.

"All right," Shane says, nodding as she writes down his order. She glances up and gives him a quick smile. "Hey, Anakin."

Anakin looked up at Shane quickly. "Hi," he said. His fingers beat out a nervous tattoo on the table. "Sorry about the thing on Friday night," he finally offered, looking up at her from under his eyelashes before continuing his examination of nothing in particular.

A small grin quirks Shane's lips. "It's okay," she murmurs deliberately. "I... really appreciate what you did. And I sorta really need this job... y'know."

Padme turned her head and smiled warmly.

"Hi. I was worried I left a message too late."

Anakin grinned. "I always have time for you." He shrugged. "And everyone's so...jittery in the dorms today. It's nice to get out."

"The mood is... off," she agreed. "It's not just in the dorms either, I think."

Tara looks at the menu board with pleasure, sliding into a seat. She watches Shane, smiling as she bites her lip.

"Hi sweetie. What are you doing out all by yourself? Did you hear about the curfew?"

"I did," Tara nods. "I'm a little confused about it, but I'll be a good girl and home by ten."

"Then we'll make this snappy. What kind of pancakes and what on the side? Milkshake or something else?"

"Pancake dinner! That sounds fantastic."

Kiki stops in and takes a seat by herself in a small booth by the window. She orders a stack of pancakes with real maple syrup, a berry cup and a biscuit. While she waits for her food, she reads her homework for poetry class.

"Kiki, baby? What are you doing out by yourself?" Deb asks as she delivers the food. "You be sure to get home by curfew, you hear me?"

"I was on my way back up to the school," Kiki explains, "but I saw your sign, and couldn't resist. Pancakes are really wonderful things!" She's cut a sliver of one and given it to Jiji, crouching quietly on the seat.

"I'll be in by the curfew - Thanks for the advice. I'm brooming it tonight, though, so if I take off right outside and go straight to my window, I don't think I'll meet with anything scary - well, scarier than normal for around here, anyway."
