CLOSED
For Renovations
+ Getting Rid of Tacky Velvet
Former employees may pick up their belongings
from the piles by the curb.
Thank you for your patience,
The New Management

Next to it is another sign, in the same handwriting:

Now accepting applications.
Apply inside.

Occasionally, a window or door will open and Becky or Miho will pitch something out with great enthusiasm. Frequently, these things are red velvet.

From across the room, Miho puts down the box she is carrying and pulls out a sign she'd made earlier, in preparation for this eventuality. Being an ESL learner herself, and notoriously silent, something about the boy bothers her. She has advice for him.

She knocks on the door.

"Hi honey. Are you getting rid of all this stuff? Can I have it?"

Deb is busy staring and remembers her manners. "I'm Deb, I run the diner and second hand store. I'd be happy to take this off your hands. How much do you want for it?"

Miho's eyebrow shoots up before she can control her expression. This woman actually wants this furniture?

She gestures toward the stuff littering the lawn in a 'have at it' fashion, then remembers some of this probably belongs to the people they kicked out, and gestures for Deb to wait one moment while she gets Becky.

"Something I can do for you, ma'am?"

"So," she asks the two young women who have taken over the establishment, "What plans do you have for the Apple?"

Miho wonders how Inara got in, then adds a note to her clipboard to change the locks before fetching a plate of peanut butter cookies. She offers Inara one and takes two for herself.
