Blood Gulch Arms - Thursday (NFB)

Tex opens up the shop this morning. She got called away on business the day before. She would have prefered to postpone it until she could wear her armour again, but when they doubled her pay it was hard to say no.

Not bothered with putting up new signs, she just scratched out the part that didn't apply anymore and went back to sit behind her counter.

Just in: Peacekeeper weapons
Pulse pistol and Pulse rifle

Special offer: gas mask and goggles
Price: $46
Students: $37

((Shop lay out and supplies can be found here.))

After going for a run with Cam, Kawalsky headed into town to check out the shop he'd heard about. He wasn't the type to be overly paranoid, but there was a difference between paranoid and prepared. He entered the store, looking as confident as he could muster considering he wasn't sure what to expect.

'Kid'. He was still getting used to that. 50 years old by experience, but only a teenager in body. Well, whatever. He had a second chance at life, even if that meant being called 'kid'.

"I'm looking for a gas mask." For starters. He'd work his way up.

Kawalsky raised his eyebrows at the model. "Got anything more along the lines of 'will actually work in a crisis'?"

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
He looked at both. The latter was unfamiliar to him, but seemed to be more sturdy. "Charcoal filter?"

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Charlie nodded. "It looks good. Standard pressure seal, impressive filter, comes in my size. Is there a catch?"

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Charlie rubbed his chin. $250 was pretty pricey. "Are you willing to barter?" Kawalsky asked, then was blunt. "Because I want to work you down to $210."

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Kawalsky was surprised she'd agreed, but wasn't about to argue. He didn't reach for his wallet, though. "Cool. Now.. for the real stuff. I want a HK Benelli M3 Super 90. That's a combat shotgun, Earth circa 2000. I can give you the specs if you don't know it. And I want to talk to you about grenades. Nothing frag or concussion. Flash maybe. If you've got something that stuns rather than maims, that's what I want. More for damage control than assault. You got anything like that?"

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Charlie was impressed. He nodded. "I'll take four." He handed over a spec sheet for the M3 shotgun. "Do you handle temporary storage? I can store this stuff somewhere else, but.." He shrugged. "Comfort knowing it's in capable hands."

"If there's room, yep. Don't want anyone coming along and snatching them up."

They finished up their dealings, Kawalsky paid and his mun finally went to bed. and he left the store.

Parker walked in about two hours before sunset, and began to look around, a frown on her face.

She was looking for something specific, but wasn't sure it even existed.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker looked up, and narrowed her eyes. "This might sound ridiculous, but... any of these have stopping power against vampires?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I know. Welcome to the Island of Fun." Parker grimaces. "As far as I can tell, the ones I need to have a weapon to use against have the usual weaknesses: sunlight, fire, wooden stakes, decapitation, holy water. I've got a holy water squirt gun, but to be honest, I don't think it would do enough. Price... really isn't an object, if that's a concern. And I want something I can carry concealed."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Energy sword." Parker looks intrigued. "I don't fence, but I was thinking of taking it up... And if they're in parts, then from what I've read, that works too. How much skill does it take to use that thing? If I can use it well enough for defense, that'd be worth it until I can take lessons."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Parker blinks, then grins. "That's a brilliant idea. The priest in town has a font, and he doesn't mind if you fill a bottle with water from there, so it would be easy to get more ammunity. I think a paintball gun holds about what, 10 shots?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"You can reach me at the school," Parker pulls out a notepad and jots down her phone number, "and I think I'd like a couple of those grenades now, if you have them available. The energy sword... I think I want to look into getting lessons, first. I'll get back to you on that. How much would the grenades run, and how much for the sword?"

She sends a doubtful look at the gas masks. "Do those things work?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Parker," she says, getting out her wallet. "And I think I'll take the frag grenade. Four, please. I may not need them soon, but I'd like to have them just in case."

Frowning, Parker says, "I can afford the better gear. How long would it take to get here?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Parker does the math in her head, and looks gleeful. "I assume you take Visa?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Parker pays close attention, making sure she understands how long the fuse is, how to activate it, and how much damage they can do. Then she hands over her card.

"How long would it take to you check into the holy water paintball gun? A week? Longer?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Parker nodded judiciously. "Perfect. Do you know any place that can copy keys here in town?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you." Parker tapped the case. "Tex, right? I'll call early next week, if I don't hear from you sooner."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
"A pleasure doing business with you, then. Thank you." Parker takes the box with the grenades, slips on her sunglasses, and goes out into the sunlight, whistling.

[[heheh.

No problem with the weapons already bought-- she has to keep them in her car or the weapons locker anyway. The holy water gun, she's going to ask Tex to "forget", but I'm sure we can negotiate that. Heh. Pleasure doing business with you.]]
