Red's is Open!

Coming down the stairs, Red was moving slow. He slept wrong and there was a noticable limp from where one could suspect he might have a crick in his neck. After turning on the sign and unlocking the shop door, he slowly hitched around to the back of the counter.

It took a few tries before he was able to get up onto his stool and slowly, ever so gingerly, he pulled out a magazine to stare at the picture it flipped open to because...ow...hurt to move his neck to turn the pages.

After his morning run with Kawalsky and Anders, Cameron bounces into the shop. "Yo, Red!"

"I've been told it gets annoying," Cameron smiled at Red, noticing the slow movement. "How are things going?"

"The hazards of being a mayor," Cameron grinned. "I'm actually here to keep you ever busier."

"I don't think it's bad," Cameron said with a smile, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "I'm looking for a bracelet or maybe a necklace for my girlfriend."

"She is rather active," Cameron nodded. "She can't sit still for long, so maybe you're right about a necklace being better. I like the silver bracelet. I think she might like gold, but I'm a bit on a budget," he said as he looked around the display.

Cameron took a moment to look around when he spotted another necklace (http://www.celticmerchant.com/celtic-triangle-necklace.html). "How about that one?"

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Cameron grinned happily and became even more bouncy. "Alright, I'll take it," he said as he dug out his wallet.

"I hope so, she tends to like shiny things." He paused, suddenly remembering. "Uh, you don't happen to sell minerals and crystals like amethyst and stuff?"

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, that's alright." Cameron said as he took the money out of wallet and put it on the counter.

"I'll check it out," Cameron said as he put the money away. "Thanks, Red."

"Me too," Cameron smield and picked up the box. With a small wave he bounced out of the shop again.

Salmoneus, managing to look both confident and apprehensive, enters the shop. He has the air of one who doesn't know if he should be doing what he's doing, but is determined to do it anyway.

"Hello, Red."

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's nice to see you, too." He winces at the pained look on Red's face. "You don't look quite as bouncy as normal. Are you okay?"

The banker was worried, and torn. If Red wasn't feeling good, maybe this wasn't the right day for this. But then again, could he get himself to come back through the door?

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
The older man looks around the shop, trying to appear casual. "Well. Um. Actually," he finally meets Red's eyes, but then looks away again. "I thought I might come get that ear piercing you talked about."

After all, I poked Callisto with a sword and didn't die (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomtownies/265777.html). What's one little needle?

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Hesitating for a moment, Salmoneus follows Red over to the counter. For a moment, he's stunned by the selection.

"Wow. People like to put all these in their ears?" He points to a small but thick bar with rounded ends. "Even something like that? How would that fit in your ear? It's much too long."

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tongue?" Salmoneus holds a finger to his open mouth and winces. His mind replays the categories. "Genita--" He blanches. "Do you mean . . .? No. I'll stick with just the ear, thank you very much."

Looking again, he saw a small stud with a blue stone. Pointing, he says, "I like that one. Is it for ear or -- something else?"

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Approaching the chair nervously, Salmoneus sits. His fingers drum idly on the armrests while he waits. "Anybody ever faint while you do this?" he asks with a laugh. "Not that I'm going to or anything."

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Which?" He'd forgotten he had a choice. "Um. The le--the right." The older man looks at Red. "Do you have a suggestion?"

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"The left, then. I have a habit of doing this." He pinched his right ear between his thumb and forefinger. Then he leaned back in the chair, stiff as a board. "Okay, I'm ready."

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pretty good. It hasn't been too busy, but I anticipate it picking up. After all, someone told me there are some holidays coming up." Salmoneus snapped his fingers. "Darn. I should have just brought your statement with me when I came this morning. It was sitting on my desk."

He looks at the contraption Red's setting up and then looks away. "By the way, you should come enter the contest."

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
The paw distracts the banker, but his glance at it is only momentary.

"I'm having a contest to name the Harpy. The winner gets a free dinner at Deb's." He feels the nudge and fights the urge to turn his head.

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The banker had prepared himself for a slow, drawn out process, and when he felt a sting he screwed up his eyes for more to come. When the pressure eased and Red asked him a question, he opened his eyes hesitantly.

"Yes, I have a harpy for security." Seeing the blue stone in the mirror, attached to his own ear, his jaw dropped. "That's it?"

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Picking up the mirror where Red had placed it, Salmoneus takes another long look. "Yeah, it is fun," he answered absentmindedly.

It was blue. And it was in his ear. Surprisingly, he liked it more than he thought he would. And he really hadn't felt much of anything.

"Wow. Thanks, Red." He put the mirror down. "You should definitely come by the bank and enter. I need more entries. Something other than 'Pretty' or 'Princess', I mean." Pulling himself from the chair he asked, "How much for the piercing? And the earring?"

[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Red, you don't have to do that." Salmoneus smiles at him. "I'm glad I was able to come back. I might be crazy, but I'm beginning to really like this place -- zombie attacks and all."

He places a twenty on the counter. "Are you sure you won't let me pay for the earring? It's a nice piece."
