Friday Afternoon at the Perk

[Leaving Red's she feels a little woozy. Nothing a sandwich and a latte won't fix. She pops in for a late lunch, sitting by herself.]

((Feel free to use this for your own Perk conversations! Or talk to CJ, she's cheerful today))

Aayla walks into the Perk, attracted by the deep and distinctive aroma of coffee and tea. She approaches the counter and orders a chai tea. She leans back against the counter while it is prepared, looking at the fairly empty coffee house. When it is ready, she takes the warm beverage and sips it before walking to a seat near CJ.

Looking up from her drink at the greeting, Aayla nods. "Good afternoon, ma'am," she says politely. She looks around the coffee house, noting a red ribbon or two. Adjusting her own pinned to her shirt, she looks to CJ. "The town people are very kind to do all of this for Mayor Red. I've rarely seen politicians so loved and celebrated."

"Thank you." Aayla smiles and slides over to CJ's table, bringing her chai with her. "Do you still work in politics here?"

She nods contemplatively, her lekku swaying behind her. Taking a sip of her chai, she says, "I work at the Afficionado Arms hotel in security. A very oppulent facility, to be sure." She laughs slightly, folding her hands up on the table. "What is the high school like? I've never been there."

"To teach requires quite a bit of dedication, and only those with the love to do it are successful. It's quite a big responsibility, to shape the minds of the future generation." She looks off into nowhere for a little while before taking a drink from her cooling tea.

"An informed positive outlook usually brings about good consequences. To be needlessly doubtful and apprehensive reaps little reward... though being overly confident of one's self can be even worse." A smile creeps over her pink lips, and her lekku sway under their own power as she begins to laugh. "Though I'm sounding like Master Vos, my old teacher." Her laughter slows and quiets as she ads, "I suppose he did a good job if I remember what he taught me so well, I tell it to strangers." The smile stays on her face.

Aayla nods, impressed by the wisdom in what CJ had said.
"I have been trained as a Jedi, who are responsible for keeping peace and wisdom in my galaxy. Though I haven't had too much experience away from my master, I am confident that I will do well in this position." She traces her finger along the rim of her cup. "Though it will be a challenging experience, being how different this culture is from the one I was raised in. Yet no one can grow without a challenge. That's my ultimate purpose in being here."

Sitting back, Aayla shifts into a more causal and comfortable position. "There is no purpose in continuing if one remains static. That's the whole meaning of surviving, to grow with The Force." She sips the last little bit of her chai and furrows her brow. A smile is on her face when she puts the cup back on the table. "Your insight is impressive. What do you teach at the school?"

"Verbal communication is something that must definitely be mastered. Though I've been trained in physical combat, I've also been trained that negotiation is always more important and violence is used strictly in defense as a last resort."

Smiling and giving a small laugh, Aayla nods. "Of course. One can say very much without uttering a word." She notices the sun starting to set, and gathers her cup. "It's getting late, though. I should go back to the hotel and get my food for the gathering." She gets up from her chair. "It was very pleastant talking to you Ms. CJ." Smiling, she extends her blue hand. "My name is Aayla."

"I certainly hope so." Aayla smiles and effortlessly tosses her cup in the trashcan from an unusually long distance before leaving the coffee shop.
