Lana comes in with a book and her hair slightly windblown and sits down at an out of the way table.

"Hi honey, what can I get you this evening?"

"I'd like the grilled vegetable skewers on rice and a cup of hot tea, please." Lana smiled at Deb.

"I'll have those right up for you."

Deb reappears with the tea and has the food out in a few minutes.

"How you doing this evening, honey?" she asks. "Make sure you get home before curfew."

"I'm doing okay. Spent the day out by the water, soaking in the sun while it's still out." Lana smiled at her. "How are you doing? And yes, no worries, I will *definitely* be home before curfew." She shudders a little.

"I'm fine, sweetie. I just got a really big order, so I'm going to be busy. The beach, huh? I may have to get Carl to go with me for that before it gets cold."

"That's great. What are you going to be doing? And yes, the beach is lovely. I've never lived near an ocean before, so it's really something."

[OOC: Sorry, misunderstood the 'have a big order thing'. *facepalms*]

"I'm catering the Echolls boy's party tomorrow. Pittsburgh is nowhere near the ocean. Never expected to like small town living, but this is a nice one. Where you from, honey? Nothing you can say will surprise me."

Lana laughs, "Nowhere very exotic, I'm afraid. I'm from a little town in Kansas - called Smallville, actually. We do have some strange things going on there at times, but nothing like what a lot of the students have!"

"Kansas." Deb smiles. "Never been there myself. Kind of funny with how many friends of Dorothy I know, but there you go. You're right, we got space kids, and kids out of their time and anything you can imagine."

"And I'm just an ordinary high school student who wanted to get out of her small town and see new things." Lana smiled to herself. "Guess I got my wish, huh? I'm certainly seeing things I never could have imagined before!"

Maia comes in and slides in by Lana "Hey seafaring buddy how are you?" She grins at Deb "Hey Deb."

"Hey, Maia," Lana smiles at her. "Deb and I were just talking about where we're from. Deb, Maia was my partner in crime out wading in the ocean earlier."

"oh well let me throw my hat in then. I am from Seattle." Maia grins. "I was indeed dear Lana and I did keep myself from the very strong urge of tossing you into a wave." Maia laughed.

"Good thing you didn't," joked Lana. "Getting unexpectedly soaked to the skin TWO days in one week wouldn't look good."

Maia starts to cough and laugh over her lemon bar. "Well darling girl, I am so very sorry that I would not be able to deliever the passion of that encounter so I guess it is better that I refrained." Maia winks at Lana. She is in a nice mood and feels playful for some reason.

Lana turns bright red. "I wasn't even thinking about that part of it. But well, yeah, I don't know how many shocks my system can take this week," she teases back.

Maia smiles "Oh well, I think that the shock I could give you would be so very good." She leans close to Lana and giggles "And it would only involve water if you really wanted it to" Maia wiggled her eyebrows

Lana laughed. "No offense, Maia, but I'll have to pass. I'm afraid I'm going to confine myself to guys for that."

Maia took another bite of her lemon bar contemplating Lana's statement then shrugged. "Well don't knock it til you try it" She grins wickedly. "But I shall refrain from my plans to seduce you and be happy to be your close friend in times of good and bad." Maia finishes off her lemon bar. "You headed back to the dorms soon?"

"I am ever so grateful for your restraint," Lana says with mock seriousness. "And yes, I'm going to bring my cookies back to the dorm for a midnight snack. Let me just pay Deb and I'll be all set." She looks up at the clock," Deb would be kicking us out pretty soon anyway to make sure we get back before the curfew."

Maia glances at the clock. "Yep" She stands up grabbing her sweater and holding Lana's for her to put on.

Lana slips into her sweater and goes up to pay Deb. "Thanks for everything, Deb. Especially the conversation."

She heads out the door into the evening air. "Oh, it's so nice out here - the air smells so fresh!"

"Hi Maia. What can I get you tonight?"

Maia smiles up at Deb. "I would love a lemon bar, Tara brought those into my hospital room nearly every day and I can't stop thinking about them." Maia grins.

"They aren't on the menu, so I can't guarantee fresh today." Deb gave her a wink. "But I've got some left from yesterday. Let me find them."

Some swearing from the back and Deb appears with the lemon bar on a plate.

Maia grins broadly. "Thank you Deb." Maia took a bite "Now this... this is worth waking up for." Maia happily takes another bite. "I swear I'm going to take you home and have you teach Diana how to cook properly."

"We all did. Zombies, invisible cats, a mayor that's not human but one of the best people I know... Fandom Town, what can I say?" Deb delivers the cookies and steps away. "I better let you eat before it gets cold."

"Thanks, Deb. It was good talking to you." Lana smiles up at her before turning back to her food.
