Allison Sees Monday Morning

Allison is in her kitchen, the sign on the window says open. She seems a bit more calm than she's been recently, but definitely still bothered by whatever it is that she saw. Still she's ready to talk to anyone who needs it today.

Maia runs up onto the porch and pulls open the screen door. "Allison?" Maia sounds as though she had been crying

"Maia? What's wrong? Come in please." Allison says, clearly worried about the girl.

Maia hurries into the kitchen making it as far as the table before she bursts into tears. "Sh-she g-gave me detention. Sh-she didn't believe me. A-all Sha-Shanes fault. Stupid Shane." Maia cried harder.

"Who gave you detention?" Allison asks, hugging her. "Slow down and tell me what happened."

Maia shivers in Allison's arms crying harder. "T-Tara did. She said my statement was rude and disrespectful." Maia cried harder "and stupid Shane had to get all upset and run off to the emo closet so I got detention." Maia kept crying her words coming out in spurts of painful emotion. "I even apologized but I s-still have detention and she didn't care that I-I didn't know what to say. M-my parents are dead I- c-can hardly remember being normal how was I s-suppossed to answer her." Maia gave up talking now and just cried, the words "I hate. Stupid Shane. Not fair" coming every so often.

"Shhh." Allison says soothingly. "Have a seat and I'll make you a tea, maybe you can explain it was a misunderstanding?"

Maia nodded slowly into Allisons arms but stayed until she calmed a bit more. She sat down at the table still gasping a little through her tears. "I-I did try to explain. S-She didn't care. She doesn't care that I didn't know how to answer the question she just cared that Shane got upset." Maia wiped at her face."S-she's Tara's girlfriend." Maia cried harder again "I was just basing the answer off Superman movies, I-I didn't know how to answer the question. I told Shane that I didn't know how to answer and she went all stupid and stormed off and thats when I got in trouble."

"So you think Tara was being unfair because she's dating Shane?" Allison asks. "You should bring that up to who is in charge at school, because that's favortism. My daughter Ariel had a similar problem with her teacher."

Maia sniffled a little. "She said it was because it was offensive to the other students but the only one who seemed upset about it was Shane. Even her T.A. understood me." Maia sniffed again. "I don't know what Tara's deal is, I went to see her before class and she got all shirty with me and I guess she was still pissed at me in class or something. I-I don't want her to get in trouble but I do think it is unfair yeah."

"Incidents like this need to be...taken care of before they get out of hand. I don't know what happened so i can't tell you what to do, but I think you should speak with Tara and if you still feel like you were treated unfairly after that, talk to the authority at your school." Allison suggests, making Maia a tea, and handing it to her.

Maia sniffled and took the tea. "I-I don't think she wants to talk to me Allison. She doesn't like me." Maia's voice starts to get edgy again "I don't want to ever see her again. Her or her stupid girlfriend." Maia dissolves into tears again. Her heart was broken, she wanted to be away from school, away from Tara, away from everyone and back with Diana in Seattle.

Allison grabs her hand. "Maia sweetie, if you'd like you can stay here until you calm down, and we can talk about anything you want, we don't have to talk about this if it's upsetting you more."

Maia squeezes Allison's hand back and then goes into Allison's arms. "All I did was answer her question the best way I could. I don't remember being ordinary, I don't remember my parents and what their responsibilities were." Maia hugged Allison tighter and cried silently. "It isn't fair Allison."

Allison holds her. "It's alright Maia, it sounds to me like you were treated unfairly and something should be done about that."

Maia held Allison tighter and tried to stop shaking. She nodded her head against Allison. She closed her eyes listening to Allison's heartbeat. "Did you see anymore? Of that dream?" Maia eyes were still closed. Allison's arms were like Diana's strong, motherly. She didn't want to leave them.

"Not yet sweetie." Allison tells her. "You're going to be alright..." she says, holding her close.

Maia nodded again against Allison, she relaxed her body into her arms. "Yeah, I will be." Maia's voice sounded hollow and haunted "I always am."

"You can stay as long as you like." Allison told her. "Did you want to listen to music or something."

Maia nodded slowly. "Can I stay until I need to go back for homework?" Maia shivered she couldn't face the chance of seeing Tara in the town or anywhere else for that matter.

Allison nodded. "As long as you like."

Maia smiled at Allison. It was nice, having just someone there that wasn't a teacher or a person her age. Maia smiled to herself. "Can I come over... can I come over whenever I want? or need to just get away?"

"Of course you can." She tells her softly. "Anytime you need to."

Maia hugged Allison close and whispered "Thank you." in her ear as she ended the hug.

Allison nods. "I'm glad you came over, you can always talk to me."
