Blood Gulch Arms - Wednesday (NFB)

Tex opens up the shop. There's really nothing more to say about it, she's having a really quiet week. Except maybe that there's a duck outside of the store, looking threatingly at the sign on the door. As soon as Tex notices the duck, it quickly waggles off.

Just in: Peacekeeper weapons
Pulse pistol and Pulse rifle

((Shop lay out and supplies can be found here.))

Before Red opened his shop, he needed to drop by Tex's for something. Official business and official order. "Morning, Tex."

He rose up onto his hind legs, front paws resting on the counter so he could talk to her. "I need to talk to you about ordering something, if you have a few minutes."

Red grinned. "Just to warn you, my knowlege of weapons is very limited so if my questions are awkward, just bear with me. Tranquilizer guns for the patrolmen. What is the size feasibility, weight restrictions and encumbrances for the patrols and what am I looking at in costs to order them, say 10?"

"Handguns, if we can get them," Red said. "A rifle or two wouldn't be so bad either, now that I think of it."

Red looked it all over and nodded. "They'll be used in the field and need to be sturdy. I'll let you advise the model and supply the darts if you can get your hands on them. I'll handle the actual serum supply."

"If you could send the quote to my office at Town Hall, I can get them to review it and cut you a check." He looked off in the distance and then back to Tex. "And while I have your attention, would you be able to handle being the Police Department's ammo supplier?"

"I'll have the desk sergeant get that list to you by the end of the week and their current needs for supply." Red nodded in satisfaction. "I think that covers everything I needed."

Laughing, Red pushed and landed on all fours again, walking to the door. "See you later, Tex. Thank you."

Sometime after 3pm but before heading to work.

Duce walks into the shop, carrying a small insulated lunchbag and a manilla envelope with her. Nodding politely to Tex, she waits until the tall woman has a free moment.

Duce nods, "Toxicology report on the venom, sample of venom, sample of antivenom. We also included some rather graphic pictures of people who've been bitten." She pauses, adding, "We'd like those back when you've made copies. Sentimental value."

Sliding the lunchbag and envelope across the counter, she adds, "As long as it's kept in a vacuum sealed ampoule, the venom will stay active for up to six weeks. After that, it begins to break down and becomes increasingly less effective, but even in a completely neutral state, it's still toxic enough to cause someone to become very, very ill if injected. It works best if injected, but will still be effective if consumed or inhaled as a mist."

She adds, "You'll want to check the state regulations where you sell this. Some states have regulations concerning venemous reptiles and their secretions. Virginia doesn't, however, we'd prefer you didn't sell this anywhere in this state. We're not so fond of the police that we'd enjoy being dragged in and forcibly milked."

"It's instant. The minute it hits blood cells, they start deteriorating. If the antivenom isn't administered within 10 minutes after infection, you've pretty much guaranteed amputation at the very least. The toxin causes damage to the protein and muscle surrounding the blood vessels and after about ten minutes, necrosis sets in. Instant pain, instant damage. Even if the antivenom is administered immediately, it won't lessen the pain, and the infected person will still have a small amount of permanent tissue damage at the site." Duce considers, and adds, "About 1% of people have an anaphalactic reaction to the antivenom, and even without that, the side effects aren't pretty. In it's own right, the antivenom can be used to make someone very, very sick. Common side effects are nausea, diahrrea, vomiting, headaches, vertigo, and numbness of limbs."

The pictures show various stages of bite wounds. Some of them show serious necrosis and flesh sloughing. In the interest of not making anyone sick, the player will not link to said images.

(ooc: Duce will have no problem with that, as long as it's not sold in Fandom. Cottonmouths and rattlesnakes are common in the south, so anyone investigating a venom attack would be likely to go after reptile owners and associations than looking for a gorgon.)

"That's what we brought it for." Duce does some quick mental math and names a sum, high but not unreasonable. "Do us a favour.. test it on an animal, or on someone out of town. The police and the clinic around here have my DNA on file, and anyone getting doped with viper venom'll set off their warning bells."

Duce nods, "Let me know if it lives up to your expectations, and we'll talk production." Gesturing at the side of the insulated bag, "Our number's on the card. Use the cell. Red would probably not appreciate me talking about this at work. Pleasure doing business with you."

Duce turns to head out.
