Parker held open the door for Zero and Alanna, and surveyed the place once they were inside. "Acceptable. For a truly great haircut, we'd have to New York, but this place doesn't look too bad."

She taps her fingers on the receptionist's counter. "We'd like a stylist, the best one available, for an emergency fix, please."

Parker rolls her eyes. "Hot chocolate then. With whipped cream. And chocolate sprinkles. Okay?"

"What she said sounded good." Alanna kept nervously pulling at her hair.

Parker swatted at her. "Will you quit that? Stop it. It'll be fine."

"Can I help you?" asked the stylist who had just come up to the receptionist's desk. "I'm Rosanna. Ohh, honey. What happened? Curling iron accident?"

Alanna let out a long breath. "More like gender misconception to begin with, and then a little fire accident."

Rosanna took her by the arm and led her to a chair in front of a large, brightly lit mirror. "All right then, girl... That does happen, doesn't it? You want me to just trim it, or give you a completely new look?"

"New look," Parker chimes in. "New look...?" Alanna lightly echoes and looks at Miss Parker's choices. "Um, I kind of like the second one. It's girly."

Rosanna smiles, then flips an apron onto Alanna, and examines her hair from all angles. "Shouldn't be a problem, chica. You want a wash with that, then we'll see about making you girly, girl?"

Alanna looks at Miss Parker almost pleadingly. "Right?"

Parker nods yes, looking very, very patient. Hair is important, after all. "Right. If you could use your best conditioner, to get rid of the fire damage as much as possible? That would be great too."

Alanna closes her eyes and makes a note not to open them until it's all over.

Parker supervises the whole thing, once they start cutting. A snip here; a snip there. A whole bunch of chopped-and-burned stuff gone elsewhere.

When it's done, she grins. "Open your eyes, Alanna."

Alanna blinked and stared at her reflection. "Um, wow. Is that me?"

"Of course. Who else would it be?" Parker looks pleased. "As requested: girly. Also pretty, and easy to take care of." She cocks her head. "Hmm. Rosanna? Do you have time to cut my hair? Just a trim?"

"Of course, girl. Sit on down. I can do nice things with your hair too...."

Alanna is having a bit of trouble not playing with her hair and is smiling a bit goofily. "Decided to join in Miss Parker?"

"Why not?" She shrugs. "Might as well make it look nice before this weekend. I'm hoping to talk Michael into a getaway somewhere."

Rosanna does her magic, and the results are... acceptable, to Miss Parker. Pretty, to anyone else.

"Not sticking around for the weekend?" Alanna continued to admire the results in the mirror. "And I like it, it really suits you."

Parker waits for Rosanna to run her card, and takes her cocoa from Zero. "No one burned, I hope? And another student? It seems late in the term...."

No, he's not a student. He looked our age, though. *shrug* He said he'd be workin' at a karaoke club that's openin' up soon.

Parker managed not to do a spit-take. "Karaoke? Oh dear god. Half our fellow students will be sneaking in to show off."

Parker pointed at Zero. "*You* explain that one."

Alanna helps Zero get the cups in order and takes her own. "What do you think?" She indicates the hair.

"Thank you." Parker tilted her head, admired the new look, then nodded. "No, I need to clear my head for a... project, I'm working on. And we never seem to spend enough time together when we're here. So, time away." She smiled. "I haven't decided where yet, though. And this is assuming we can get passes."

Standing, she smiled at Rosanna. "Thank you, I like it. I'll be sure to mention you to my friends."

"Thanks, girl. That'll be $18 for each of you."

"I've got it," Parker said, holding out her Visa. "If she'd hated it, I would've been the one to find another haircutting place."

Alanna looks curiously at the Visa. "What's that? And thanks, I really like the cut. And please tell me it's not illegal."

Parker's so surprised she laughs. "This?" She waggles the bit of plastic. "It's a credit card. It's keyed into an account my father set up, where the real money is kept. They put it through the machine, they get a confirmation message that there's money there, a note transfers it, and all is well. Much easier than carrying around diamonds. Although nowhere near as pretty. It's only illegal if it's not yours, or if you go over the limit. Which in my case, would take some doing."

"Oh." Parker smirks. "Sorry. No, it's not illegal. Just a headache to do from here. So I might as well make it a working vacation."

Parker folds her arms, and brushes her hair out of her face. "Somebody who was in the library early, left me my pretty, soft, baby bunny. Now, who knows I like bunnies?" She menaces Zero. Grinning. "Did you talk?!"

I don' remember tellin' anybody, but I might've. I was back in the stacks most of the day. Don't really know who came in. *smirk escapes*
