Late Friday Morning at theThe Perk

Callisto sits at one of the window tables going over a thick folder of notes, with a very large cup of coffee close to hand. Occasionally she can be heard to either mutter about vampires or snicker about parrots.

Shuffling in, looking half-asleep, Jake heads directly to the barrista. "The regular. And keep it coming." Once he's got his hazelnut mocha, he starts looking around the room, spotting Callisto. "Oh good." He slides his backpack off his shoulder as he approaches her, dropping it by hs chair as he sits down. "Hey," he greets her, then focuses on his coffee. Yay coffee.

Putting the coffee down, he shrugs. "Pretty good. You?"

"Hm? What's with Barbossa?" Jake gives her a quizzical look, bending down to pick a book out of his backpack. "Haven't seen him yet today."

Jake's eyebrows goes up. "What is it with my roommates and turning into animals? And, heee. Parrot." He sips his coffee, grinning. "So. Lesson-y thing. Where do you want to start?" He starts flicking through the book he's brought.

"Mm-mm," Jake nods, then gives her a wry grin. "I sincerely doubt coach Ash'll be bringing up the more obscure arts, never mind anything made before the 1800s. ...Unless it involves naked chicks with guns, of course." He pokes through the book again. "Hm. Picasso?"

Waiting for Marty

[identity profile] positive-angel.livejournal.com 2005-11-11 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Chihaya goes in with his notebook and finds an empty booth. He arranges things neatly and orders a hot tea with a muffin. Making scribbles in his notebook, he waits for Marty.

Marty picks up a bagel and very large cup of coffee with lots of cream and sugar.

"Hey Chihaya. How are you doing this morning?"

Re: Waiting for Marty

[identity profile] positive-angel.livejournal.com 2005-11-11 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hi Marty! I'm doing ok! How are you?" He scoots around in the booth and arranges his notes. Chihaya knows Marty is busy and won't take up much of his time.

"Pretty good. Friday is always a good day for me because I don't have class until 3:00pm. I get to sleep in late and still enjoy the morning and afternoon," Marty says as he sips his coffee. "Thanks for taking an interest in the Safe Walk program. I'm hoping your article will give it some good publicity."

"That's what I'm hoping! I want to raise awareness on campus, not only for safety but for security in general. Rover is only one...er...ball...and try as he might, can't be everywhere at once." Chihaya says with a cheerful grin.

"So I was hoping I could ask you some questions," he taps at his notebook, "and maybe just brainstorm quickly about your office with the student council."

Marty sits back in his chair and nods. "Sounds good to me. Feel free to ask me anything," he says right before taking a bite of his bagel."

"Great!" Chihaya chirps. He opens to the page where he has all his notes for their interview.

"I guess you heard there was a fight in Study Hall on Tuesday between Jonathan Crane and James Ford? Rover was out and didn't get to the trouble in time before Crane ended up with a broken nose, last report I heard. So my questions will sort of lead up to and around that.

What do you think can be done to raise awareness on campus that kind of aggressive assault on another is unacceptable? As Security Officer Co-chair, what do you see your position doing to help relieve some of the strain?"

Re: Waiting for Marty

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2005-11-11 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Marty frowns. "Well I wasn't in Study Hall that day, so I can't actually comment on what started the fight. As Co-chair however I can say that Alanna Trebond and I are in the same boat as Rover. We're only two people and a ball with approximately a hundred students to watch over. Ideally though the security position is just there to make sure that incidents between students that happen on campus don't fall through the cracks and provide services to the students that will help keep them safe."

Lunch break

[identity profile] cabal-boone.livejournal.com 2005-11-11 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Over his lunch break, Aaron decides more coffee is in order and heads down to the Perk. He's carrying a small paperback book with him. Frowning at the menu, he's perplexed by all the various drinks with their crazy-sounding names. Asking the barrista quietly, in an apologetic voice, "Can I just get a regular large coffee, with none of this other stuff in it?" The barrista chirps a condescending sounding affirmative, and moments later, his naked coffee is produced.

Walking to the service counter, Aaron doctors it appropriately with cream and sugar before heading to a table. Setting the styrofoam cup aside to let the coffee cool to a drinkable heat level, he opens the book. The cover indicates it's a list of the current bodyworker statutes for the State of Virginia. The dark green lycra knit shirt he's wearing has short sleeves, displaying a wealth of extremely intricate tattoos sleeving both arms. The creatures inked into his skin are fantastical, some monstrous, and exquisitely rendered.

Yazoo was passing through town, a box tucked under his arm. Now that the bike was finished and all left was delivery. He had finished Tex's gunblade and was on the way to give it to her at her shop when he passed by the Perkolater.

The dark form from the pub the other night was sitting alone at a table. He was so lovely and the ink displayed on his arms captivated Yazoo's attention, standing at the window, looking in.

The hair on his arms prickling, Aaron raises his head from his book and glances around for the cause. As his eyes slide past the window, he spots Yazoo staring in at him. Blinking slowly, he offers a slow, wide smile back at the man through the glass.

Meeting smile for smile, Yazoo shifted his weight and watched the other man. His head tilted as he considered going on. He'd never been in this place before, coffee never being his thing.

Hazel eyes still on the blonde man, Boone raises his mug to his lips, tightening them over the rim as he takes a languid sip. His eyes close in obvious delight before the mug is removed. Lips curling intward between his teeth, he runs his tongue along them before slowly rolling them back out into a smile.

Adjusting his position on the chair, he kicks one leg over the seat corner so as to better see the window. Reclining against the back, he hooks an elbow over the top corner of the chair and gives the other man a small wave of greeting.

Oh to be a coffee cup…Yazoo’s interest was piqued. Either he was just that fucking sexy or he knew how to put on a display. Which ever one it was, it was a temptation Yazoo couldn’t resist.

He shifted his box in his arm and went into the shop, heading straight for Boone. Just out of reach, Yazoo stopped and nodded his head in greeting.

This was probably one of the few positions where Aaron would be able to look up at Yazoo, but he takes the reversal of height with grace. Resting his head against the back of the chair, he meets the other man's eyes and rumbles a greeting. "Hello, Yazoo. You on your lunch break too, or just passing through?"

His hand lifts, pushing his hair out of his eyes and lingering. Adjusting his head slightly, Aaron rests the hand on the back of his head, pinning it between his scalp and the chair back.

"Passing through," Yazoo said softly. His gaze swept down over Boone's body and back to his face. Pursing his lips, he tilted his head toward the empty chair in question.
