Friday After Geoff

After her fight with Geoff, she stalks through the town, angry. She pulls out her mobile and presses the buttons hard. She waits for Ten to answer.

Once she hangs up, she heads to NPC hardware to buy a hammer. A good, heavy, shiny hammer.

After scaring Maia, she runs in to Loz...this may be Geoff's luckiest day ever.

[He's still in his office, door closed. It takes a few rings for him to answer.]

[A long sigh.] Hello?

Can I kill Geoff? I mean, just a little. Is that ok? [She nearly growls with the anger and hurt, and her words tumble quickly from her lips.]

[His voice is rough with pain.] ...It's hard to kill people just a little, CJ. Did he run into you, too? He came looking for me.

I went to talk to him. What he said...what an asshole. I mean...what an ASSHOLE. [her voice rebounds off the close buildings, echoing through the phone.]

[quietly] Yeah. He ripped me a new one. And from what he pointed out, I probably deserve it.

Oh, I really doubt that. If you fuck him again, you're going to have to pay for it though. And if he thinks I'll tolerate you sleeping with a whore like him, the hell with him, Ten. Really. I can't believe him. [Her heels click staccato along the pavement as she walks briskly.]

[Ten winces and holds the phone away from his ear.] What?! What in the bloody world did he SAY to you, CJ?

I was only trying to be his friend, Ten. He's a poet, used to commissions. I wasn't even pushing him. If I lived back then I could have had his fingers broken by now for not giving me anything yet...maybe he thought screwing me was a show of faith. The hell with him. I'm getting a hammer right now. If I can't kill him, I'll break his goddamned hand.

[with resignation] Please don't do that, CJ, love. You'll get arrested, and then I'll have to come bail you out. And you won't feel much better in the long run, and you won't get your commission.

[Another long sigh.] I think I need a drink. Or two. Or ten.

I won't put up with this crap, Ten. He can't talk to me like that. I won't take it from anyone, especially not some jackass who thinks he can use you to hurt me.

I know, but violence generally isn't the best plan.

[Then the rest sinks in. His voice chokes.] Use me?

Yes. If he thinks that taking you to bed out of revenge is going to happen, I swear I'll cut out his heart.

dear god, did he say... [There is a very, very long silence. His voice, when he does speak, is very choked.] CJ...I can't talk about this right now, not on the phone.

Fine. I love you. I'm not mad at you. I have to go buy a hammer. I'll talk to you later.

[quietly] I love you too. Please don't buy a hammer. ...Ta.

[He hangs up and stares out the window for a long time.]

((he's not finished being mean to P yet but I'm inclided to think she'll want to help CJ in the end))

Rounding the corner from Cats boutique Maia sees C.J. looking furious. Not sure if she should say hello or not Maia stands still holding her bag. As C.J. gets closer to her she decides that she has to say hello and if C.J. ignores her that is fine as well.

"Hi C.J." Maia said bravely, her eyes slightly wide in fear

[She stalks past Maia, fire burning in her eyes. Her heels hit the ground hard. Her jaw clenched, she passes Maia and walks to the door of the hardware store. Jerking the door open she disappears inside. Minutes later she reappears, carrying a gigantic, shiny new claw hammer.]

Maia sees the hammer, her eyes wider, she backs against the store wall, her mouth dry from fear. Watching C.J. she does not speak again.

Loz was on his way toward Geoff's when he saw her. Sex on legs. In her hand she was toting a nasty looking hammer and the look on her face was even nastier. This could get interesting.

He wheeled his bike around and parked along the street further up where she was walking. Leaning against it as it idled, he waited until she was within range. "Hey."

[Her eyes flash to his. She bends her lips up in what Ten calls her 'eat shit and die' smile, and jerks her chin upward in greeting.]

Hey yourself.

His gaze went from her face to her hand and back to her face. "Who's going to die?"

Chaucer. Not die...just really hurt. [She doesn't stop walking]

His eyebrow lifted and he watched her go by. Switching off his bike, he fell into step beside her. "Just on principle?"

Pretty much. No one talks to me like that and gets away with it. No one fucks me and throws me away. [Her hair flies behind her, bouncing with her step. Nostrils flared, she holds the hammer tightly.]

"Sounds serious," Loz said with a snicker. "Who at Geoff's talked to you like that?"

Geoff...who'd you think? We had a deal. He wants to break it, fine. [Glaring] I can break things too.

That was a surprise for Loz, to hear that Geoff got mouthy with anyone. He was foolhardy, he was honorable to the point it was dangerous but mouthy? Loz reached out to grab CJ's arm to stop her. "Wait..."

[His hand on her stops her, but she raises the hammer, ready to hit him] What do you want from me, Loz? I'm just a little bit busy.

He didn't flinch or try to block the hammer. "Yeah. I got that. Going to fuck up some guy who mouthed off to you. Just curious why."

Why do you care?

Loz didn't let her go. "My reasons are my own and I'm having a little trouble believing Geoff was being an asshole. He's not the type."

Well, believe it, Loz. I've never seen him so angry...so hateful. And it's time for payback. Even Kadaj know the point of payback. [She jerks her arm loose and keeps walking.]

"Is that natural for him? Does he do that a lot?" Loz asked her retreating back.

Not that I know of. [Her steps slow.] Never before, actually. [She stops, the hammer slipping from her hand and clattering to the ground.] Oh, Jesus. He got bit.

[Turning to face him, all the anger has disappeared.] Loz...we have to help him. Ten was just like this when he got bitten by the gremlin.

"Grab your hammer," he said with a smirk. "You may still need it." Turning on his heel he went back to his bike. "Come on."

[Bending down, she collects the hammer and follows him.]

Whatever the fuck was going on, at least the afternoon was guaranteed to be interesting. Loz climbed on his bike and started her up, the engine growling to life.

Sliding forward on the seat, he waited for CJ to climb on behind.

[She throws her leg over the seat, and presses agianst Loz's back, whrapping her arms around him tightly. He's bigger than Kadaj, more solid. The bike between her thighs is a thrill like no other. She almost wishes that Geoff didn't need any help...she'd love to see what Loz could do to thrill her. Pressing her cheek to his back, she nudges his legs with hers.]

Go.

With her weight and warmth, Loz smiled. He could feel her squeeze against his hips and his smile grew wider. Sex, man. Sex.
