Jonas has no idea where Rodney's gotten off to, but he did promise to occasionally open the shop, and he's feeling guilty about not having done it. Sam had left a message for him earlier, about painting at the house of someone named Daniel, but Jonas hadn't gotten the message until just a few minutes ago. And he feels a little uncomfortable inviting himself to a complete stranger's house. Although, something about the name seems familiar...

So, he's currently sitting among what look like the pieces of something he's supposed to be fixing. But really, he's just watching John, Rodney and Carson play inside their Habitrail. And trying to figure out whether one of them might be a girl.


[OOC: Jonas will be available for an hour or so, until around 12:30AM EST, if anyone wants to stop in.]

Rodney walked into the shop, liberally spattered with orange-ish paint. He seemed to be in a reasonably good mood as he looked over Jonas' shoulder.

"Quiet evening?"

The question was reasonable, and asked in a reasonable tone. Which makes Jonas a little nervous. Nevertheless, he smiles at Rodney, taking in the orange splatters. "So far it has been. What, uh, exploded on you?"

"Oh, nothing. Just some paint fights around at Dr. Jackson's while 'helping' him paint his place. Didn't they invite you?"

"Oh. Yes, yes they did, Sam called. But I didn't get her message until just a few minutes ago. Dr. Jackson, you say?" He tilts his head and frowns. "Do I know him? That sounds kind of familiar."

"You should," Rodney pointed out. "You worked with his team for nearly a year. I think you even took over his office."

"Did I really? Why did I take over his office? Did he leave?" Jonas looks at Rodney, a deeply interested expression on his face, waiting for the answers. Before the man can get one out, however, he's hit with another question. "Why orange?"

"Yes. Because he wasn't using it. Yes - well, in a way." Rodney shrugs. "You'll have to ask Dr. Jackson why this colour, though. It's called 'Nevada Desert' or something crazy like that. And since it's seeped through the shirt and is starting to stick to my skin, I'm going to have a shower."

"All right. I'll get back to work on this, then," Jonas replies brightly.

He turns back to the Habitrail. "Huh. I wonder if it's Nevada that's orange, or just the desert there," he says quietly to himself.

[ooc: Okay, weirdly enough, I wrote a story about Carson's mice wherein I had to do a boatload of research on the breeding of mice... if you have healthy male and female mice living together, you'll have little miceletts in three weeks. Every three weeks if you don't separate them. Do with that what you will. And Carson should be coming to town soon... I'm sure he'd be um... thrilled that a girl mouse was named for him. :) :) :)]
