CARITAS--OPEN

Jarod unlocked the door for the patrons, giving Caritas a final once-over as he did so. It looked ready. The band seemed to be in the same number of pieces as they were the last time he saw them. He hoped he was dressed appropriately--the movie had been a little iffy on that part. Besides, on his currently limited budget, the black jeans and untucked black, collared, button-front shirt would have to do.

During his downtime, he practiced twirling liquor bottles and bar glasses a la Cocktail.

The Tick walks up to the bar while checking Caritas out. It looks like his kind of place. It looks, well...

"Keen," Tick says.

"I'll have a glass of milk, chum! In a tall glass. This is a tall glass kind of place!"

"Ooh. Choices. The pub just gives me milk without any questions... Two percent, chum! With ice!"

"Ooh. Whimsy! Hello, there, Jarod! I am The Tick! And this," Tick said after sipping some milk through the bendy straw, "is one keen glass of milk! Well done, man!"

"Courage has nothing to do with it! Milk is the drink of Righteousness, and I thirst for Right! This is a tall glass of Bovine Justice! This bendy straw is the Straw of Honor! This umbrella is the Parasol of Novelty!"

"Yes indeed, chum! I teach Criminal Justice up at the school, and I'm a superhero back home. I think that qualifies me as an expert." Tick smiled widely and played with the umbrella.

"I mostly throw out real and hypothetical situations at them and have them discuss whether what has been done is right, how they would handle the situations, see what their experiences have been. I'm trying to get them thinking about Justice, see how fine they can slice the Lunch Meat of Their Beliefs! They seem to get a kick out of it!"

"Thank you, Jarod. Metaphors come to me as naturally as thwarting evil. It's keen!"

Tick sipped some more milk and continued playing with the umbrella. "It's wacky. Even students who aren't in the class seem to get a kick out of it. I don't even know how they find out what we're talking about. I keep checking the door and there's nobody out there that I can see..."

[OOC: I'm prepared to drop the name of a certain brunette that Jarod is very familiar with if you'd like. It might be worth a chuckle.]

Tick was positively gleeful at Jarod's word choice. Here was a Good Guy if he'd ever seen one.

"Some of my fellow teachers have sent the Academic Pie that I'm serving back to the kitchen, but the students have their Forks of Inquiry poised and ready to strike!"

[OOC: I just left a window open if you wanted. Window is shut, the drapes are closed, the light has been turned off, and the old lady has gone to bed. I know to check first before I actually commit to that kind of stuff. :)]

"Some of the teachers are habitual eaters. They like their own cake for Knowledge Dessert and don't want to expand their snack horizons." Tick liked this lad. He really seemed to Get It. Perhaps Tick would give him a spoon someday.

"I agree, chum. But some people are picky eaters when it comes to learning." Tick sighed. "You can't force people to do what's right for them, though. That would be Unjust."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Precisely. You really know your Justice, Jarod! I'm impressed!" Tick was getting near the bottom of his glass.

"No, thank you, chum. I should be heading off pretty soon."

"You know Injustice?" Tick stared at Jarod intensely. His antennae swivelled around as if they were seeking something. His stare softened into a sad glance. "I'm sorry to hear that, chum. It's something that nobody should deal with. At least you seem to come out of it okay!"

The Tick pulled $3 out of his pocket and placed it on the counter. "There you go, chum!"

"I'm glad to hear that, Jarod. I hope your time here is full of Justice and Freedom!"

Tick stood up and glanced at his now empty glass. "Err, could I keep the umbrella? I'm trying to get more whimsy into my life. I've needed it recently."

"Thank you, Jarod! I'll be sure to stop by again!"

Tick picked up his four umbrellas and left the bar. He seemed to be deep in thought before he was even out of the building.

[OOC: Ooh! I already have plans for the umbrellas. Yet another little thing with which I can make people cry at a later date! Thank you!]

Susan comes in and slumps at the bar. She looks tired and stressed, but she's still trying to be visible.
