Phale's Bookshop - opening

Having sent emails to C.J. and Dream, and a voicemail to Zero, Parker was at the door of Phale's bookshop very early, poised to enter the second the owner was there.

The fact that she was going to be here, skipping class to do this anyway, didn't help the fury she felt after hearing Sheriff Lamb's press release on the radio that morning. And her fingers kept reaching for cigarettes that hadn't been there for a month.

The instant Mr. Phale flipped over the OPEN sign, Parker darted within. Bystanders could see her talking urgently to the owner for a few minutes through the window, then disappearing into the stacks in the heart of the store.

[ooc: Available for play.

Azriphale has a thread set up for talking to him, should you wish to do so.]

As Parker heads off into the shop to begin her research, Aziraphale steps into the kitchen for a moment, returning with a large mug of cocoa and a plate of scones. He sets them on the table in the reading lounge.

"Please let me know if there's anything you need, Miss Parker. I'll endeavour to keep any customers at bay so you can have a quiet place to work."

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
He nods. "If you'll tell me the name of the book you're seeking, I can try and help you find it."

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Kalderah..." he muses. "Well, we can begin by checking the foreign language books. Thank goodness I had Marty and Kiki to help me re-inventory everything!"

He smiles reassuringly at Parker. "If Marty says he saw it here, then we'll find it."

[ooc: How hard to want to make this?]

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Aziraphale pats her arm. "I'll check the inventory ledger, just to be certain. Why don't you start with the shelves there." He points to a bookcase filled with foreign-language editions.

"Have you checked the locked cupboard?"

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Aziraphale opens the big ledger on the counter and begins to methodically go through the entries, looking for anything that could conceiveably be the book Parker needs.

Talk to Aziraphale

[Please use this thread if you need to talk specifically to Aziraphale at the shop.]

Anya walks in and begins looking around.

Aziraphale looks up from the inventory records when he sees the newcomer enter the shop. He quickly moves out from behind the counter and approaches.

"Good day, my dear. Is there anything I can help you find?"

"Good afternoon sir. I would like to look around your store," she says smiling at the man behind the counter.

Smiling back, he replies, "You're welcome to do so. Please let me know I can be of assistance."

Anya looks around slowly. She didn't really come to the shop for anything per se, she just had always wanted to browse and today was the day.

"So, do you have all types of books here, or just those boring novels and such?" she asks, hoping he'll know what she means porn.

Re: Talk to Aziraphale

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Actually, my dear, I specialize in rare and first editions. But I have all sort of books." He smiles. "Including novels. Is there something in particular you're looking for?"

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing in particular today, but I was wondering if you have anything in the realm of magics. Not that flim-flam stuff that guy down the street is trying to hawk as magic, but real, honest to god magic books. You know, incase I need one in the future," she rattles off to him and smiles.

He raises an eyebrow. "I do have several volumes on mysticism and magic theory. I'm afraid I don't tend to sell books of spells but that doesn't mean I don't carry them."

Well, actually Wilson was passing through to return the thermos. He'd been called down into town and believe it or not the thermos had come with him. He'd evening cleaned it.

A napsack was hooked over the shoulder of his leather coat, which he'd thrown on over his lab coat -yeah talk about your fashion statements. He pulled the thermos out of it as he nudged through the door, lower lip caught between his teeth as he tried to figure out the best place to leave it.

Aziraphale notices Wilson enter the shop immediately, and he looks up from his inventory ledger with a smile. "Good day, James. How are you today?"

Re: Talk to Aziraphale

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wilson turned towards Aziraphale's voice and he smiled warmly, carefully making his way over to whereever the angel happened to be.

"Hello, Aziraphale. I'm..." barest of hesitations before he grinned."I can't complain as they say. How are you doing today? Oh! Came to return this. I washed it."

He sounded a little proud of himself at that last bit, domesticity was not James Wilson's long suit but he was learning.

"Thank you, my dear." Aziraphale closes the book and takes the thermos from him.

"Would you like to sit down for a bit?"

[ooc: FYI: the inventory book is on the counter, which is near the front of the shop. *decides that it may be time to design a shop layout*]

Handing over the thermos, Wilson set his hands on his hips thoughtfully for a moment, then he smiled.

"I think, I just might actually." He blushed softly, looking up at the angel from beneath his lashes. "I did run out rather rudely last night."

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Not at all." He waves James toward the chairs near the window. "Tea, coffee, or cocoa?"

Re: Talk to Aziraphale

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Moving, perhaps a little eagerly towards the chair, Wilson shrugged out of his coats, including the labcoat, folding them neatly across the back of the chair before he tucked the napsack safely off to the side.

Sitting down, felt good. It had felt like he'd been on his feet all day, which was rediculous given the hours he used to put in at the hospital.

"Tea, please." He grinned with one corner of his mouth. "You get the steeping just right, I either make it too strong or...stronger."

Crossing one ankle over the opposite knee, the oncologist finally let himself slow down long enough to start absorbing the full impact of his conversation with Geoff last night and various conversations throughout the day. Closing his eyes, Wilson rubbed his fingers across his forehead in a pensive gesture.

"Oh!" He lowered his hand, as if he'd come to a point in some mental dialogue that he knew he did have to share with the angel. "I'm sure you realize it but...I...CJ never hurt anyone." There was a pause and Wilson made a bit of a face before amending. "Well, not in anger anyway."
