Red is Open for Business

Red was in his shop, busy around a few small boxes on his counter. Many unusual pieces of antique jewelry are scattered about as he worked on rearranging his displays.

At least it's not raining.

Heading in to work at his usual time, Aaron greets Red and begins setting up.

Watching Aaron work briefly, Red grinned and went back to sorting his jewelry. The man may be new but he was settling in quite well.

Inara drops by on her way through town. "Good morning, Red. Is this the new shipment of jewellery?"

Looking up, Red grinned at Inara. "It is! Just in from India," he said.

"I love the intricacy of their silverwork," Inara says. One hand reaches out to hover over the silver. "Do you mind...?"

"No, please," Red nosed over a few of the pieces toward her. "Help yourself. They do some lovely work."

[The Doctor waits outside for Shane to come by. He's a bit nervous.]

Shane comes cruising up to the shop on her skateboard, wheels hissing against the pavement as she guides the board down the narrow alley. As she sees Ten, she slips her sunglasses off and straightens up, both sneakered feet resting on the board as she rolls towards the shop door.

Shane! Didn't know you could skate. [He waves at her and grins.]

Twiddling her fingers in a wave, she grins as she skids to a stop in front of him, one foot settling onto the pavement.

"Hey," she says brightly. "How are you? Uhh, yeah... and I can."

It's rather gently threadbare and seems almost perfectly tailored to her tall, willowy frame. It's amazing, the stuff you could find at the Enpeacey Thrift Shop.

Good for you, always wanted to learn. And I'm alright. Shall we go in? [He starts to bounce, just a little, like a puppy or a small child.]

Tapping the back end of her board with the toe of her sneaker, she pops her board up, catching it in her hand and tucking it under her arm. "Looks like I'll be giving lots of people lessons," she says mildly, grinning.

She chuckles as she sees him bounce; she hasn't seen him this excited... well, she's never seen him excited. As far as she can remember. Well. Except maybe for zombie weekend, but that was a completely different kind of excited.

"Yeah, let's go in," she says, still chuckling.

You just want to see me fall on my arse, I'd bet. [Ten smiles at her, and opens the door. The two walk into the shop.]

"It's the scrolling, I think," she says, picking up a necklace that falls like a shimmer of water. "Not too many artisans can be bothered with the delicate work these days.

"How much for this and the bracelet?"

"For you," Red waggled his head side to side, his own jewelry braided into his mane jingling softly. "I'll let them go for $60."

"It's a deal," Inara says, taking the money from her purse and paying for the jewellery. "This is a relief from the markets back home. Even once the price is named, there's haggling, and it can get very tiring. They all have starving children and I'm very easy to convince."

Laughing, Red nodded in agreement and sympathy. "I would rather see the jewelry worn than to waste away beneath artifical lights and behind glass casings."

"Anything new happening about the town?" Inara asks. "I'm a little vague on the details of what goes on around here."

"Other than the investigation into the young woman's disappearance and supposed murder and the sheriff having a suspect he's trying to find," Red sighed heavily, "the curfew is still in effect until I hear from Lamb."
