Tex opened the door to her shop and placed an entire loaf of bread on the sidewalk. She moved back into her shop, watching through the door as the bratty duck with teeth waggled over the street. It stopped beside the bread, sniffed it and quacked before waggling off looking very offended.

"Fuckberries," Tex cursed and moved back behind her counter.

Michael enters the shop and steps up to the counter. "Morning, Tex." He takes out several pieces of paper and lays the first one on the counter. There's a sketch on it, as well as a price. "I've got the quotes you asked for. The first one's $60, but it's pretty basic. Reasonable craftsmanship, though." He takes out the second sheet, which like the first has a sketch. "This one's a little nicer, and from talking to this guy, it's a little more sturdy. It's $75." He sets down a third sheet. "This one's the priciest at $105. There's an etched design in the leather, otherwise it's not much different than the second one. I wasn't sure that would interest you, but I figured I'd give you all the options I've found so far."

Tex nods her greeting and bows over the designs.

"Not bad," she admits and taps the second design. "This should do. Do you need payment in advance?"

"I'd prefer it, but if that's a problem I can wait for payment until it's delivered. He said if I gave him the go-ahead today, he'd have it to me by Tuesday."

"No problem," Tex opens the drawer underneath her counter and pulls out the money. She counts it and hands it over to Michael. "Tuesday's fine. Faster than I had expected."

"Great. I'll give him the green light as soon as I get back to the store." Michael slips the money into his wallet and stuffs it back in his pocket.

"I've been trying to think of other people you might talk to about that other item you wanted. Lots of people here from our future, like Inara, and others from places far away from here. I'm just not sure I could point you to anyone who would actually know how to acquire it." He gestures toward the gunblade. "You also might ask the guys who made that. That technology is pretty advanced, from my point of view."

"It is, but I didn't get the impression that they specialise in this sort of thing. I'll keep my ears peeled, but I might just try to get the training stuff from my own time." Tex explains. "If you do come up with something else, I'd appreciate it."

Michael smiles and nods. "I'll let you know if I do." He collects the sheets from the counter. "I should be getting back now. Have a good day, Tex."
