Sunday Night

[In the park, the crowds gone, she oversees the take down of the Festival. NPC Party Removals is efficient, and she has little to really do. Still She's warm in her gown and her cloak, and she munches on a sandwich she threw together from the leftover banquet food. It was a successful party, and she's happy.]

It's the first night that Archie has been outside so late since before his "accident," and he has been captivated by the stars for hours.

He wanders, hands clasped behind his back, gazing up into the heavens -- so he doesn't see CJ until he bumps into her.

"I'm terribly sorry, ma'am," exclaims Archie, placing a hand on her shoulder to help her regain her balance. "I'm perfectly fine -- I hope I didn't injure you in any way."

He smiles. "Archie Kennedy, ma'am, pleased to make your acquaintance. This is actually the first day that I've been outside for so long, and I admit I was somewhat intoxicated by the starlight. I . . . completely lost track of the time while I was here."

"Oh . . ." He takes his hat off and twists it a bit in his hands, awkwardly. "Studying, you understand. I have a damned lot of work to catch up on, after my -- well, my convalescence period, shall we say. Doctor Wilson was rather emphatic that I not wear myself out with study, though, and I thought I would avail myself of today's festivities."

Archie looks startled by the question, even disbelieving. "No, I can't say that I was. Though I certainly had my own brush with death."

Jonathan is taking advantage of the lifted curfew and is wandering around the Park. Now that all the people are gone, the Faire seems much more appealing.

"Thank goodness you don't have to scold me cause then I'd be sad," he answers back with a smile, "You're Professor Cregg right? I'm told the festivities were in your honor. Happy Birthday."

"Jonathan, Jonathan Crane, we did the fashion show together," he tells her, holding out his hand, "thanks for that by the way, you were the only teacher to volunteer. The more people out on the stage the better I felt. Public semi-nudity? Way not my thing," he tells her blushing.

Jonathan doubts there are people who didn't see that skirt. And remember it, late at night mostly, but maybe he was just thinking about personal experiences.

"I saw you and you looked great, amazing really and yeah, charity all the way, at least, it better have been because I don't walk around on stage for no reason," he says, laughing.

"And it's a pleasure to meet you as well," he says, taking her hand and kissing it.

"Umm, losing a bet? A really big favor owed to a friend, if my life depended on it? Peer Pressure?" he says and it might be a joke, "I'm not really one for the spotlight. The spotlight actually makes me nervous. But you, you looked like you really belonged out there."

"I want to thank you for turning your attention to me, CJ." he says with a slight smile, his eyes thankful and full of warmness.

He smiles at the 'wonderful companion' part, he's practically shining, "Why yes. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to come sit in on one of your classes? Perhaps see your style of teaching?"

He snickers, "Oh well, at least your classes draw an interest. Learning about plants is not the most interesting thing to students today." he yawns slightly with a small smile.
