The Emporium -- Wednesday

Michael flips the sign from "closed" to "open" and goes back to the counter, where he's making lists for what they'll need to bring on their trip. Ben can be seen occasionally coming down to check the lists or talk to Michael.


The sign in the window reads:

"The Emporium will be closed over Thanksgiving weekend, Thursday through Sunday. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Geoff wanders into the Emporium and looks around to see if he can spot either Michael or Ben.

"Hey stranger! Long time no see." Michael grins.

"I know, and I take all the blame. I hate that I missed the dinner, by the way." He rolls his eyes and grins. "Been a pretty wild couple of weeks. I locked myself in the shop last weekend to get some writing done, and I think I'll do the same again this coming. How have you two been?"

"I'm sorry you couldn't make it, but I understand that things can get in the way. We've been good -- our life's been pretty quiet, especially compared to what's been going on around town." Michael shrugs. "I suppose I should be thankful, the last bit of excitement I had was..." He waves his hand, not wanting to finish the sentence. "Let's just say it'll last me a while. So are you doing anything special over this long weekend, or just locking yourself away?"

Laughing, Geoff says, "Yeah, I luckily managed to avoid the big excitement. A little goes a long way around here. And no, nothing special. I think I am going to lock myself back up, so to speak. With so many people being away, it'll be a perfect time for working. You know CJ and Ten went out of town? And Shane and Tara as well."

Michael nods. "We saw Shane and Tara just before they left. We only have a passing acquaintance with CJ, and I'm not even sure if we've met...Ten, you said? I guess I really should get out more."

((ooc: Ben & Michael don't cross paths with CJ/Ten much, and IIRC they've never been introduced to Ten as anything but The Doctor.))

"I'll have to introduce you to them, then. You probably know Ten as 'the Doctor'? He teaches quantum physics at the school. They live in the TARDIS -- that blue box-like structure in the park. You'd like them." He grins, and looks as though he might be plotting something.


[ooc: Yeah, Geoff just has this weird idea that everyone he knows is friends with everyone else he knows. ;)]

"Oh, him! Yeah, they seem nice enough." He eyes Geoff. "That's an awfully big grin there. Do I want to know what you're thinking?"

"You'll have to wait and see, Michael. I don't share my plots until they're fully hatched." His eyes scan the shop. "Do you and Ben have plans for the holiday yourselves, then?"

Michael nods. "We're going to see Hunter. He and Mara are cooking dinner for us and her parents."

"That's great, Michael! I wish I'd been able to visit more with Hunter before he left. Is he planning on visiting again?"

Michael shrugged. "I don't know. I don't think he's thought about it, but he seemed to like it here and mun is insane enough to attempt playing him again at some point. Hopefully he'll bring Mara with him next time."

"Oh good! I hope he does, then." Geoff checks the time on his shiny pocket watch that CJ gave him for being her kept boy and grins at Michael.

"I've got to get going, but it was good to talk to you. The three of us should hit the pub for drinks sometime. Tell Ben I said hello, and I hope all of you have a good holiday."

"Yes, we'll have to do that sometime. And I will tell him you said hello. I wish you successful writing."

"Thank you! I promise I'll stop in as soon I'm out of confinement!"

He shakes Michael's hand with a friendly grin and heads off out of the store.

After work

Paige rushes in looking a little panicked, "okay it's nearly thanksgiving I can't show up empty handed, erm help me!" she says looking at Michael

Michael blinks, startled. "What sort of thing did you have in mind, Paige?"

She shrugs, "something...thanksgiving! Marshmallows to go in the yams maybe? Oh god I don't even know if we're having yams! Erm maybe cranberry sauce would be the safest bet? I really don't know"

Michael taps his finger to his lips in thought. "Not everybody does cranberry sauce, either. Maybe dinner rolls? A vegetable tray?"

"well I do cranberry, so I guess if no one else wants it that makes more for me right? But yeah I'll get some dinner rolls too, thanks Michael."

"The cranberry sauce is up aisle 2, and the rolls will be over by the bread."

Paige smiles and goes off to find the items, a few moments later she returns with the most expensive jar of cranberry sauce they have, the biggest pack of dinner rolls and a tub a Ben and Jerry's Honey I'm Home ice cream.

She places them on the counter, "I'll just take these thanks,"

"Ice cream, the treat for all seasons." Michael grins. "That'll be $8.42."

Paige nods, "yeah I kinda ran out the other day and you can;t have a dorm room without out ice cream!"

She hands over the money, "thanks Michael"
