Blood Gulch Arms - Thursday

The bratty duck with teeth was sitting outside of the Gulch, staring up at the door. The duck looked confused, very confused. With reason. There was a sign up on the door, replacing the old sign about the PK-weapons. The sign wasn't just an ordinary sign. It had sparkles. Sparkles and tinsels. And it was lightish red and sparkly.

Closed for Thanksgiving.
Blood Gulch Arms hopes you have an amazing day. Don't forget to say thanks for the lovely things in life. Like the blue sky, and the green grass and the birds singing in the early morning. The ducks, playing in the pond and quacking happily at anyone who feeds them bread, especially ducks with teeth. And explosions. Big explosions that don't hurt anyone.

Yeah, the duck was confused.

Having spent the last several days enjoying the weather, Zhaan was reminded to check on Tex's stitches. As she approached Blood Gulch Arms, she blew out a breath, smiling absently at the way it misted in the cold air.

The last time she'd been in such cold... well, best not to think about it.

Nodding to the duck, she eyed the sign. "Either," she said to the ambulatory water fowl, "Tex has given the shop to someone else, or something is seriously wrong."

The duck just looked confused.

Zhaan pressed the bell, hoping Tex was around.

Disturbed, and not a little worried, Zhaan stayed right where she was. "Tell me, my dear, have you seen any Nebari in the neighborhood?"

"Nebari." Zhaan considered, "They're grey-skinned, rather calm people. They might have told you this was all for your own good?"

"Hrm. Intriguing." Zhaan was reminded that she'd had a reason for coming to visit Tex, and despite her disturbance at the emotional about-face the young woman had appeared to have accomplished, Zhaan set herself back to business. "I came to look at your stitches, if you wouldn't mind."

Thoroughly disturbed again, Zhaan stared at her, "You are certain that you haven't been mind-cleansed?"

Figuring that at least it wasn't the Nebari, Zhaan sighed, "Never mind." She stepped up to the door, and smiled, "I'm going to need light."

"Bright blue and pink?" Zhaan suggested whimsically as she followed Tex.

Zhaan wondered if Tex would come after her once she'd gotten back to her former self. She pointed at the couch, "Have a seat."

"Not always, no." Zhaan set down her satchel and moved to carefully remove the bandage.

"I'd rather not be up on charges if you should happen to die from my trying to heal you," Zhaan replied, voice a bit tart. She set the bandage to the side and studied the stitches. The skin was only slightly red, and there wasn't anything oozing from the wound. "Looks like it's healing nicely, however."

"I'll keep that in mind." Zhaan seriously considered whether she'd stepped into an alternate universe. But, no, everything else had seemed the same.

Zhaan really couldn't think of a thing to say the that. The young woman in front of her, to all intents and appearances, was Tex, the same one she'd patched up. She still had Zhaan's careful stitching in her neck. But her demeanor and words were of someone who'd been mind-cleansed. Someone who was, as John Crichton had once said, "in a groovy mood."

Tex being in a groovy mood was as wrong as Aeryn Sun being in a groovy mood.

"You've got another few days before I'd recommend that." She finally replied.

"I'm sure you did, my dear." Zhaan stood, "Now, I want you to let me know if the stitches begin causing you pain or itching and if there is inflammation of the surrounding tissue, either come directly to me or the nearest medical professional."

[identity profile] notavegetarian.livejournal.com 2005-11-26 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Zhaan had no idea what that was. "I suppose," she said as she picked up the satchel, "I'ts a good idea I've never attempted to visit Chiana or Stark on school grounds."

"Cute." Zhaan shook her head, "Are you sure you're all right, dear?"

[identity profile] notavegetarian.livejournal.com 2005-11-26 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome." Turning, Zhaan headed for the door. "I'll check on your stitches in about a week."
