[Aficianado Arms Hotel -- Locked to Belthazor, Darla, and Lindsey - NFB]

Thursday night after his Arthurian Traditions class, Belthazor walked Phoebe to their room. She was still upset after her encounter with her younger sister in study hall, but she insisted he go out that evening like he had planned. So after giving her a comforting hug, he walked down the hall to #408, his old room, and knocked on the door.

Lindsey answered the door. "So where are we going?" he asked.

"It's a surprise," Bel said, stepping inside the room and shutting the door.

Lindsey cast a protective glance at his new mini-fridge, then looked back at Belthazor. "Going to tell me her name at least?"

"I'll let her make the introductions," Bel said. "I've never shimmered you anywhere, have I?" He grinned at Lindsey. "First time may make you a little sick. Hold on to your lunch."

"What?" Lindsey started to say as Bel took hold of his arm and shimmered out of the room. When they reappeared before a closed door in a windowless corridor, he staggered and fell against the wall, clutching his stomach. "I think I'm going to throw up," he muttered, glaring at Bel.

"That'll really impress the lady," Bel snickered. He was nice enough to give Lindsey a minute to recover so he didn't totally embarrass himself, then knocked on the door.

Trying to lean against the wall in what he hoped was a casual fashion, Lindsey continued glaring at his former roommate and contemplated puking on said roommate's shoes. He decided against it and waited for this mystery woman to open her door.

"You do that all the time and you aren't hurling constantly? Damn. We can walk back, right?"

Darla opened the door after her mun woke up from a nap. She had dressed carefully for this, in a shimmery royal blue camisole with a sheer top over it, and a tight blue satin skirt with iridescent beading. Not overtly vampy, but sexy.

She still had a moment of shock at the sight of Lindsey, teenaged and looking like a choir boy. "Good evening, gentlemen. Come on in."

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Lindsey blinked a few times, all thoughts of puking on Bel's shoes forgotten. If shimmering got him to hotel rooms with hot blondes, he'd learn to deal. He flashed a grin in Bel's direction before turning his attention to Darla.

"Hello"

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Darla waited a beat for him to say more, then stepped backwards into her suite. "Come on in. I've got champagne chilling if either of you want some." She turned and walked toward the elegant conversation area, then paused and looked over her shoulder at Lindsey with a smile. "I could get you Coke if you'd prefer."

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Lindsey followed Darla in to the suite looking in no way like a lovesick puppy as he did so.

"Huh? No, champagne's good. Thanks."

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Gracefully, Darla seated herself, sitting so that the skirt slid up her thigh just a couple of inches. "My name is Darla. Please, sit down."

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, if he doesn't remember me, then there isn't much catching up to do, is there?" Darla said archly.

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Lindsey, somehow, remembered that he was supposed to have manners and tried his best not to stare as he sat down.

"Pleasure to meet you, Darla. Turner here tells me you know me. Or, some other me. Something like that."

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Given the strangeness of Fandom, explaining exactly how well I know you is complicated. But when I knew you, you were a rising young lawyer for a multi-dimentional law firm, and working out of their Los Angeles office. You also were my friend."

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Good to know that I'm not the only me that sold my soul to Wolfram and Hart."

Lindsey grinned. So, an alternate older him was a lawyer and had very good taste in "friends." This was all very good to know.

"We were...friends?"

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Darla smiled, knowing what he was asking and refusing to answer directly. "You helped bring me back to life -- and then you gave me back everything I'd lost." She tilted her head thoughtfully. "I'd say that counts as friends."

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Lindsey frowned, considering this new information.

"Back to life? Seriously? What do you mean, everything you'd lost?"

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Darla rose and poured a glass of champagne and handed it to Lindsey. She poured another and handed it to Bel, turning her back on Lindsey for a moment to lower her lashes over her eyes and let her mouth curve.

Then she sat back down. "Lindsey, it's all a very long story, and there are things I have to trust you with if I tell you the truth. I knew you before, and I knew I could trust that Lindsey." She stopped and met his eyes. "Angel killed me in another world -- universe, timeline, what have you. I don't want to give him the opportunity kill me again."

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Lindsey took the glass. "Thanks."

Then he listened, trying to make sense of all of this.

"Angel? Like, the souled version? Why would he kill you?"

He left the trust issue alone for now. He wasn't sure what to say to that.

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Darla met his eyes. "Because I'm the one who made him a vampire."

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
"...oh."

Lindsey ran his fingers through his hair nervously. Turner could have given him a heads up on that, at least. Not that it really mattered, but it still would have been nice to know going into this little meeting.

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Darla tilted her head to the side. "Do I frighten you, Lindsey?"

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
"No."

He might have been a little quick with that denial, but he's certainly not going to admit to being afraid.

"Just wasn't expecting that answer, I guess."

[identity profile] vampire-darla.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Did you expect a vampire do be different? Raving and only out for violence and distruction? Evil is easy, Lindsey, and has infinate forms. What I am... is not that easy."

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Nah. I mean, I was hanging around with Angelus for a while, so I know it's not all Hollywood's got it made out to be or whatever. I, ah, just wasn't really expecting to be meeting any vampires tonight. Kinda threw me a bit."

[identity profile] wannabelawyer.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
Lindsey glared at Bel.
"Not funny, Turner."

[ooc:sadly, I am about to faceplant on my keyboard and am going to bed before that happens. Darla, finish tomorrow?]
