Red's is open early

Having missed a couple days due to ~~the player sleeping all day~~ the cold getting into his hands, Aaron makes it to work early Friday. He opened the shop, turning on lights and quietly going about getting everything prepped. Glancing at the schedule, he smirked. No cross tattoos scheduled yet.

And then he saw one further down the list. Scowling briefly, he went to go make some coffee. He hated inking boring things, and a cross was just about the most boring thing you could do. He mused it over in his head. Maybe he could convince the client to let him draw them a nice flash. Red didn't have any particular sets of religious themed flashes yet, so there was still a chance this could be turned around.

Nodding to himself, Aaron pulled a sketchpad from under the counter and began to mock up some decent and tasteful religion-of-your-choice flashes.

He sipped his coffee and drew, waiting for people to show up.

After lunch, Red and the cubs wandered downstairs. He gave a groggy yawn that showed all his teeth and smacked his mouth. "Morn-" Red glanced at the clock on the wall. "Afternoon, Aaron. Thanks for opening the shop."

Aaron grins at the sleepy Red and nods, "No problem. Figured you could use a break."

(.. guess who just woke up again.)

"Stupid cold. Or sinuses or something." He shook his fur and flopped on the floor behind the counter, although he could see Aaron was doing something. "What you got working?"

Aaron tilted the sketchpad so Red could see the religious symbols. The big man had gone with historic representations of the symbols, stylized and yet, still tasteful.

On the lower half of the page, he'd doodled red-nosed reindeer, a chubby, jolly cartoon Santa, and several characters from A Nightmare Before Christmas.

"I like the skeleton guy. And is that a deer?" Red lifted his head. He recognized the Santa from some of the early decorations going up around town.

Aaron nodded, "Rudolph the Red-Nose reindeer. What, you've never heard the song?" Aaron paused a beat and began singing in a low, clear tenor:

"You know Dasher and Dancer
and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid and
Donner and Blitzen,
but do you recall
the most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw it,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
“Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee:
“Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!”

Aaron finished with a repeated, "You'll..go..down.. in.. hisss-tooooooo-REEEEE!"

Giving a self-mocking half bow, he grinned at Red. "Children's song."

"Hiiisooooowrrwweeee," the cubs chimed in with Aaron.

Red laughed and shook his head. "Never heard it before. Cute. And you got a nice voice, Aaron."

Aaron shrugs a shoulder and shakes his head, hair flopping in his eyes only to be pushed out again. "Had a few lessons. I have another song the pups'll like.." His eyes might've gleamed with evil glee at the thought of the cubs singing these songs on endless repeat.. but that's the nature of bachelor uncles.

"Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corn cop pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal

He was made out of snow but the children know

There must of been some magic in
That ol' silk cap they found
For when they placed it on his head

Before I melt away

Down to the village
With a broom stick in his hand

He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when he heard him holler
Stop!

Frosty the snowman
Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye sayin' please don't cry
I'll be back again some day

Thumpety thump thump
Thumpety thump thump
Look at Frosty go
Thumpety thump thump
Thumpety thump thump
Over the hills of snowwwwwwwwww!"

The cubs took great delight in hearing Aaron sing and they sat in rapt attention while he did, trying to pick up the song and humming along tunelessly.

Duce wanders in just in time to catch the end of that. She shoots Aaron an amused look and waves to Red and the cubs. "Aw, look like someone done be bringin' an' singin' wit da Christmas Cheer, yo!"

Red looked up at Duce and blinked his eye. He had no idea what she had said. "Uh. Hey, Duce."
