The Perk...

Buffy comes in and orders a large mocha with an extra shot of espresso. She looks around and then selects a table towards the back.

Jenny walks up to the counter. "Coffee," she says. "The strongest you've got." When she's gotten her coffee and pays for it, she turns around and surveys the room.

Xander heads straight for the counter when he enters, ordering a Very Manly Thing With No Chocolate Or Dairy Products In It ahh, who's kidding who here, double-fudge mocha latte.

Jenny waves and comes over to sit down. "Buffy," she says. "You're looking a lot--younger than I expected."

"And you're ...uhm...more alive than I expected." She looks sad. "Jenny...I'm...I'm so sorry that I didn't protect you better...I..." Her eyes drop to her drink.

"That kind of thing happens around here, or so I'm told," says Jenny. "People coming back from the dead, I mean. And Buffy--thank you for apologizing. But I never expected you to protect me. What you did was cut me out of the group. Completely. And that it a whole lot easier for Angelus to get to me."

"The fact that you got mad at me for didn't know about and couldn't control? That's what gets me."

Buffy looked at her in surprise. "I got mad at you for not telling the whole truth. You knew about the curse, knew what could happen and that's why you were trying to send him across the sea with Judge parts. You kept information from me and from Giles." Buffy looked at her. "I trusted you, looked up to you...and you knew what could happen to Angel and you didn't tell me."

Xander, spotting Buffy at the back, carries his Manly Beverage wussy Lifetime movie drink coffee towards her table. There's somebody sitting and talking with her, he notices, which could make talking about Sunnydale old home week stuff... interesting... but eh; they can play it by ear.

He gives a wave as he approaches the table, dodging several customers and trying not to spill hot coffee on himself in the process. "Hey, Buff."

Buffy looks up and smiles at Xander. "Hey, Xand. Look who's here...and alive..."

"No, Buffy," says Jenny. "I didn't know what would happen until after it was too late. And I told you that."


{{OOC: I just re-watched Surprise and Innocence recently. Trust me, Jenny didn't know about the curse until after it was broken. And she did tell Buffy that.}}

Xander would have started at the sound of that voice even if Buffy hadn't drawn his gaze to the woman across the table from her, her face no longer obscured as it had been by distance and conversation.

"...Ms. Calendar?" Coffee slops over the rim of his cup and he hisses, shaking drops of hot liquid off his hand.

Buffy looks down at her coffee. "Then why were you working so hard to send him away?"

At the sight of something pink in his peripheral vision, Jarod looked up from the laptop, where he'd been doing a more illegal in-depth search on Parker's boyfriend. No luck so far.

Once he recognized Zero, he called, "Morning. How're things?"

"Not at all. Have a seat," he lowered the screen of the laptop and motioned her into the chair across from him.

So, you know Parker pretty well, right? Have you...what d'you know about her boyfriend?

"She hasn't told me much--just that his name is Michael, and that they went to some dance and spent the weekend in France together."
