Parker had come in after a long, horrid day, found out Jarod wasn't working tonight, gotten a Diet Coke and been even more annoyed it didn't have an umbrella.
She was sulking in a corner when she saw Jenny come in, and remembered she wanted to talk to her. "Miss Calendar?"
Anders, still snazzy in his tux, heads into the lounge holding Cally's hand. "No floating domeheaded things here, so far," he says, peering around. "You want a soda or anything?"
GOB walked up to the bar to tell Veronica that there should also be a thread for his magic act which was a last minute thing that she had no way of knowing about tonight and ordered a scotch. After his last performance here - which he didn't actually remember - he thought it might be smart to be a little looser tonight.
Bored, Belthazor wandered into Caritas to check things out. He sat down at the bar and ordered a drink from Tino. Lorne hadn't carded him before, so he didn't expect to be this time, either.
Why....why was he back here? The singing had scared him the first time around but...the scotch was pretty good and actually the atmosphere was kinda...fun.
So, Wilson found himself back at the bar, almost on the same stool waiting to catch Tino's eye to order a drink.
In a cowboy outfit. The familiar twang of a country music standard starts.
"Hey there cowpokes! It's C&W night at the Lazy Caritas! I'm your host Lorne and I'm here to remind you...."
Sometimes its hard to be a woman
*Scattered Applause*
Oh hush! One does not applaud Tammy Wynette in the first lyric.
Giving all your love to just one man You'll have bad times And he'll have good times Doing things that you don't understand
Stand by your man Give him two arms to cling to And something warm to come to When nights are cold and lonely Stand by your man And tell the world you love him Keep giving all the love you can Stand by your man
But if you love him you'll forgive him Even though he's hard to understand And if you love him Oh be proud of him Cause after all he's just a man
Stand by your man Give him two arms to cling to And something warm to come to When nights are cold and lonely Stand by your man And tell the world you love him Keep giving all the love you can Stand by your man
Stand by your man And show the world you love him Keep giving all the love you can
"This song isn't directed to anyone in particular." Just too many at once...
Parker took a deep breath, truly glad Jarod wasn't here to see this.
Mary anne and wanda were the best of friends All through their high school days Both members of the 4h club Both active in the ffa After graduation mary anne went out lookin’ For a bright new world Wanda looked all around this town And all she found was Earl
Parker made a face. Well it wasn’t two weeks After she got married that Wanda started gettin’ abused She put on dark glasses and long sleeved blouses And make-up to cover a bruise Well she finally got the nerve to file for divorce She let the law take it from there But Earl walked right through that restraining order And put her in intensive care
Thinking of various things, her voice turned grim. Right away Mary Anne flew in from Atlanta On a red eye midnight flight She held wanda’s hand as they Worked out a plan And it didn’t take long to decide

Zaphod struts up, and winks at the audience. He is does not grasp the concept of Country Music, but pretends to know what's what.
"I don't know how many of you have been to the northwestern end of the galaxy. If you have, you know the local saying, "Geligamsuh erikal Kenny G". Roughly translated, it means 'One's nice, two's nicer, three's overkill unless you can handle it.' The Kenny G bit is completely happenstance."
"Well, I can handle it. With style. This little number always reminds of a weekend I spent in that particular area with Retlh, Betlh, and Qethl, a local set of conjoined triplets. This goes out to you ladies, hoping you survive the shared liver and intestines for a couple more years."
Thanks for the times That you’ve given me The memories are all in my mind And now that we’ve come To the end of our rainbow There’s something I must say out loud You’re once, twice Three times a lady Yes you’re once twice Three times a lady
And I love you When we are together The moments I cherish With every beat of my heart To touch you to hold you To feel you to need you There’s nothing to keep us apart You’re once twice Three times a lady And I love you I love you
Jenny goes up on stage, takes a microphone, and starts to sing one of the few country-western tunes she knows. She's glad she doesn't have a problem with people staring at her. "Someone Else's Prayer, Mary Chapin Carpenter," she tells the, uh, zombie band.
Tonight the brightest moon in a hundred years Floods the streets of Rome and I am standing here Wondering where the ghosts of antiquity Hide on nights like this once a century Where do shadows fall when there's only light Why'd you follow me halfway 'round the world tonight What I'd give right now not to even care And then this could be someone else's prayer

It's wild the way you tease me It's wild the way you free me It's wild the way you reach me Wrapped me up in your wire from the start
You've got the women waiting in line I'm not asking you to make up your mind But I can make you happy at least now and then I've got something special for my bad boyfriend
If you can't love me honey go on just pretend I've saved something special for the very end If you can't love me honey go on just pretend C'mon baby be my bad boyfriend
Cally takes the stage. Because she is OMGSOGOTH, she knows this song. Honest.
I got my head, but my head is unraveling Can’t keep control, can’t keep track of where it’s traveling I got my heart but my heart is no good And you’re the only one that’s understood I come along but I don’t know where you’re taking me I shouldn’t go but you’re reaching back and shaking me Turn off the sun, pull the stars from the sky The more I give to you, the more I die
And I want you And I want you And I want you And I want you
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You make me hard, when I’m all soft inside I see the truth, when I’m all stupid eyed The arrow goes straight through my heart Without you everything just falls apart
My blood wants to say hello to you My feelings want to get inside of you My soul is so afraid to realize Every little word is a lack of me
And I want you And I want you And I want you And I want you
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug You are the perfect drug, the drug, the perfect drug
Take me, with you Take me, with you Take me, with you
Without you, without you everything falls apart Without you, it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces Without you, without you everything falls apart Without you, it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces It’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces It’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces Without you, without you everything falls apart Without you, it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
After Cally's turn in the spotlight, Anders comes up and takes the stage. He's completely given up on the effort to keep from shoving his hands in his pockets by now.
"Um, yeah, so this is for Cally . . . and I know it's not even two months yet, but it feels like a long, long time, so . . ."
He gulps and takes a deep breath, and shakily starts into the song.
Something in the way she moves, or looks my way, or calls my name that seems to leave this troubled world behind. And if I'm feeling down and blue or troubled by some foolish game, she always seems to make me change my mind..
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now, she's around me now almost about all the time. And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now. She's been with me now quite a long, long time and I feel fine.
Every now and then the things I lean on lose their meaning and I find myself careening in places where I should not let me go. She has the power to go where no one else can find me and to silently remind me of the happiness and the good times that I know, and then I just got to go then.
It isn't what she's got to say but how she thinks and where she's been. To me, the words are nice, the way they sound. I like to hear them best that way, it doesn't much matter what they mean. she says them mostly just to calm me down
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now, she's around me now almost about all the time. And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now. She's been with me now quite a long, long time and I feel fine.
The Final Countdown begins to play. GOB walks onto the stage. He pulls a deck of cards out of nowhere and flings it into the crowd. He then wanders over to the backstage where an NPC stagehand handed him Linking Rings.
GOB shows the rings to the audience. Oh, yes, they're linked together. No, they can't be pulled apart! No, they're welded together or something! No, they-- YES! Gob pulls them apart and drops them on the stage in back of him! For they are now separated and useless to him!
GOB starts strutting around the stage, pulling linked handkerchiefs out of his sleeves. He dances a little. It looks awful.
He looks out to the audience just as the Zombie Band began to sing "We're leaving together..." after the long intro. What he needs is a volunteer from the audience!

Well she finally got the nerve to file for divorce
She let the law take it from there
But Earl walked right through that restraining order
And put her in intensive care
Thinking of various things, her voice turned grim.
Right away Mary Anne flew in from Atlanta
On a red eye midnight flight
She held wanda’s hand as they
Worked out a plan
And it didn’t take long to decide
That Earl had to die!
Yeah, that felt good.
Goodbye Earl
Those black-eyed peas
They tasted all right to me, Earl
You’re feeling weak?
Why don’t you lay down
And sleep, Earl
Ain’t it dark?
Wrapped up in that tarp, Earl
She smirked happily.
The cops came to bring Earl in
They searched the house
High and low
Then they tipped their hats
And said ’thank you ladies
If you hear from him let us know’
Well the weeks went by and
Spring turned to summer
And summer faded into fall
And it turns out he was a missing person
Who nobody missed at all
So the girls bought some land
And a roadside stand
Out on highway 109
They sell tennessee ham
And strawberry jame
And they don’t
Lose any sleep at night ’cause
Earl had to die!
Goodbye Earl
We need a break
Let’s go out to the lake, Earl
We’ll pack a lunch
And stuff you in the trunk, Earl
Well is that all right
Good let’s go for a ride
Earl hey
Hey hey, hey!
Good-bye!

Re: The Stage [12/02]
Tonight the brightest moon in a hundred years
Floods the streets of Rome and I am standing here
Wondering where the ghosts of antiquity
Hide on nights like this once a century
Where do shadows fall when there's only light
Why'd you follow me halfway 'round the world tonight
What I'd give right now not to even care
And then this could be someone else's prayer
And on a sleepless night by St. Stephen's Green
Oh I turned and tossed with my Irish dreams
And when the morning shone through the burned off mist
I could sense you still just as close as this
Just as close as lips brush against a cheek
It's your voice I hear and it's your name I speak
But when I look around there's no one there
How I wish you were someone else's prayer
And now the twilight comes as a silent guest
And of all its gifts I like stillness best
Except for tin roof rains that commence with spring
It's a lullaby when that tin roof sings
Now you can look for me on the streets of Rome
Or in Dublin town but I've gone back home
I would always be just a stranger there
And now you're free to be someone else's prayer

I've got a fever
Come check it and see
There's something burning and rolling in me
We may not last but we'll have fun till it ends
C'mon baby be my bad boyfriend
I wanna hear you call out my name
I wanna see you burn up in flames
Keep you on ice so I can show all my friends
C'mon baby be my bad boyfriend
So ripe so sweet come suck it and see
But watch out Daddy I sting like a bee
I know some tricks I swear will give you the bends
C'mon baby be my bad boyfriend
My fever's rising you ran into luck
Say what sugar
You wanna get what?
I'm wanna give you one hundred and ten
C'mon baby be my bad boyfriend
It's wild the way you tease me
It's wild the way you free me
It's wild the way you reach me
Wrapped me up in your wire from the start
You've got the women waiting in line
I'm not asking you to make up your mind
But I can make you happy at least now and then
I've got something special for my bad boyfriend
If you can't love me honey go on just pretend
I've saved something special for the very end
If you can't love me honey go on just pretend

Take me, with you
Without you, without you everything falls apart
Without you, it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Without you, without you everything falls apart
Without you, it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
It’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
It’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Without you, without you everything falls apart
Without you, it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Re: The Stage [12/02]
"Um, yeah, so this is for Cally . . . and I know it's not even two months yet, but it feels like a long, long time, so . . ."
He gulps and takes a deep breath, and shakily starts into the song.
Something in the way she moves, or looks my way, or calls my name
that seems to leave this troubled world behind.
And if I'm feeling down and blue or troubled by some foolish game,
she always seems to make me change my mind..
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now,
she's around me now almost about all the time.
And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now.
She's been with me now quite a long, long time and I feel fine.
Every now and then the things I lean on lose their meaning
and I find myself careening in places where I should not let me go.
She has the power to go where no one else can find me and to silently remind me
of the happiness and the good times that I know, and then I just got to go then.
It isn't what she's got to say but how she thinks and where she's been.
To me, the words are nice, the way they sound.
I like to hear them best that way, it doesn't much matter what they mean.
she says them mostly just to calm me down
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now,
she's around me now almost about all the time.
And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now.
She's been with me now quite a long, long time and I feel fine.
GOB's Magic Act
Re: GOB's Magic Act
GOB shows the rings to the audience. Oh, yes, they're linked together. No, they can't be pulled apart! No, they're welded together or something! No, they-- YES! Gob pulls them apart and drops them on the stage in back of him! For they are now separated and useless to him!
GOB starts strutting around the stage, pulling linked handkerchiefs out of his sleeves. He dances a little. It looks awful.
He looks out to the audience just as the Zombie Band began to sing "We're leaving together..." after the long intro. What he needs is a volunteer from the audience!
[OOC: First person to step up gets a moment in the spotlight.]
