Wednesday Afternoon at the Perk

It's clear and cold...crisp. She walks bck into town from the school. Everyone's half dead there, and it's boring. Window shopping along the way, she ducks intot he Perk and orders a Mexican hot chocolate with extra whipped cream. Sitting at a table, she pulls out a stack of essays and a red pen, and begins to read.]

((Open, or use for your own Perk patronage.))

Wanting to get some work done on the Clinic in Town, Wilson had kept the 'Emergency On Call' light switched on at the school's clinic, had bundled himself up and headed down into town to work. He was done now and his pager had remained blessedly silent, however he was a man in desperate need of coffee and so was ducking into the Perk in the pursuit of the wild coffee bean.

Stomping a bit of left over snow and ice off his shoes, he inhaled a deep breath and grinned.

"Aaahhhhh...coffee."

Looking over at the sound of his name, Wilson brightened immediately.

"CJ! Of course, it would be my pleasure. Let me grab something with enough espresso shots to launch myself into orbit."

With a cheerful wink, he headed up to the counter, paying for and coming away with a gingerbread latte with about six shots of espression swirling around in the overheated milk.

Shrugging out of his overcoat, he sat down across from her, very discreetly being careful not to push into her personal space.

"Grading?"

On the way home, Han ducks into the Perk. Overhearing, she adds, "I don't know what the problem could be. Snow-itis? Finals Burnout? Holiday-anticipation?"

Wilson had been about to reel off a similiar diagnosis as evidenced by the twinkle in his dark eye when he turned and blinked at the curvacious brunette who had joined them.

"Those diagnosis do seem to fit the symptoms Professor Craig. Either that or an extreme case of Crushitus on Professoritus."

Sipping his coffee it might be a little frightening to thing of this man taking in more caffiene.

"Yeah, got a little bit of one of those too." The chocolate is ready and she gets it.

"How bad are your classes CJ?"

[identity profile] 12parseckessel.livejournal.com 2005-12-07 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, my boyfriend's failing one class. Me, I'm doing okay all the way through. Bs and some As."

Han looks at Wilson, amazed. "You know, she's the first who hasn't done a big double-take and knew who I was right off. How's the clinic, Doc?"

Sitting still was not a natural pose for Wilson at times and as he was also getting the distinct impression that this young lady was a student who perhaps wanted some time to speak with a professor about academic matters, he moved to excuse himself.

"If you'll excuse me, Miss. I should probably be off seeing a duck about a pond."

Winking, he shrugged into his overcoat, caught up his coffee and moved towards the door.

"See you later. And tell Dr. House I'm still stuck in XX."

Han's still sipping on the cocoa and waiting. CJ looks very happy. Han wished he could feel like that.

So I'm sitting in the library, watching my assistants delve into the depths of Special Collections to teach Rory the ropes, and I thought I would share my terror... I mean, joy, with you. How are you today?

See, he can be taught! Even old dog that I am. So, did I tell you the insane thing I did today?

I applied to be the history teacher next semester. Possibly in addition to being the librarian. I couldn't help myself. I don't get enough chance to pontificate in the library.

Oh, Gods. I'm going to have to read homework if I do this?
