Shep and Han are heading for the Perk, where Lana is waiting for them.

"So... Lana and I had quite the little talk after our discussion in study hall yesterday."

Han shrugs. "She said you're not as dense as you act. And that is was a good talk. I kinda figure you kissed her or something."

"She kissed me, but that's neither here nor there.

You know that remark you made yesterday when I said something about the two of us together would leave Lana out... then you said something like she didn't need to be left out..."

Shep waits to see if Han was on the same page he was.

"Yeah, what about it? She doesn't like girls, though."

Shep shoves his hands in his pocket and considers his words carefully. "I don't know exactly what she said to you to make you think that that's true categorically. I made sure there were no misunderstandings between us last night and she was very clear that she was interested in a ... limited amount of exploration."

"I kinda freaked her out when she came by Sunday. Came on a little too strong and forgot most earthers only go for one sex."

I think Lana's bigger issue is that she's yet to go for much of any sex. You know?

She's all for a little playing around... but she's not ready for - she wants her first time to be real. With someone she's more than just friends with. Once she and I established that guys tend to think that one thing leads to another and that leads to its ultimate conclusion, she realized we weren't necessarily talking about the same thing all the time. Once I told her that she only had to do what she was comfortable with, she became more intereted in a little... fooling around.

She wants to... be a part of what we were talking about, but a... less involved part.

Am I making any sense?

"I was right." Han looks smug. "If she's a virgin, and used to single-shafters, she doesn't need to get tangled up with me. But if she just wants to fool around, I can surely do that."

She looks at the ground, then back at Shep. "You do understand I'm serious about all of it, right?"

Shep looks Han up and down. "If that means what I think it means... I've got the only shaft going into this, so she shouldn't be too spooked by anything." Blinks at the idea of a guy being hung like an iguana, but decides that things are weird enough just as they are and decides to save that particular train of conversation for later.

"And yeah, I figured that if we got this far in the conversation, that if anyone was going to back out, it would have happened by now. She's serious too. Last night... talk about intense conversation. I all but told her to stay out of it, but she's a big girl and she can and will set her own boundaries."

Han gives an odd half smile. "For now. But just warning you not to be to surprised by anything under the jeans, okay? She'll be fine."

I'm talking to a guy who's suddenly sprung tits. I really don't see much surprising me tonight.
