Thursday, late afternoon at the bank
The bank has been quiet all day again, as Salmoneus catches up on his sleep. There's a new sign on the door, however. It says:
The Bank has been closed due to the sudden death of family members. It will be re-opening Monday, December 12th. Thank you for your patience and my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Finally, as the sun starts to set, the front door opens and Salmoneus appears on the porch. He's dressed in his robe, with a hat and a somewhat raggedy fur coat. Fluffy appears as well, staying very close to Salmoneus. Her feathers have a somewhat wet and bedraggled look to them.
"I'm glad we did your bath indoors," he tells her. "You needed one, and I think it's just a touch cold for a dip in the pond. Even if I do need to wipe everything down now." He shivers. "It's colder here than it was in ..." His voice trails off and he stops, sitting on the bench near the door. The Harpy drops down next to him, her head against his legs.
Looking out over the town, Salmoneus spends a few minutes in quiet contemplation. Then he smiles to himself, almost as if he has a secret.
"Things are going to change, Fluffy." The smile widens as his hand drops onto the Harpy's head. "Things are certainly going to change."
