Red's is Open!

Red and the cubs got back into town late Sunday evening. His trip had been quite successful and knew that his stock in jewelry, when it arrived, would reflect that. The cubs themselves were currently nestled in the pillows upstairs in his flat, worn from their travels.

This, of course, was a good thing. It meant Red would be able to actually get some work done.

He checked his messages, frowning that Aaron had to leave so suddenly, but it was understandable, and concerned by the message left by Charles Kawalsky. Frowning, he listened to it a second time and pondered it, making a mental note to drop by and see her some time this week. Since this wasn’t the first time she acted a bit out of character, he wasn’t too concerned except there was mention of “talking about causing damage, and knowing Tex she has access to things that could make that happen” that did give him pause for concern.

So his visit with Tex would happen a bit sooner.

He opened his shop and got to work on township business.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a an envelope wedged down behind the door. He hadn't noticed when he first came in and trotted over to it, reading Gladys' prim handwriting that it was left for him at his office and she wanted to make sure he got it. Opening it with care and reading it, Red was quite pleased with this thoughtful gift and would find creative ways to put it to good use.

Back on two feet, Cameron headedinto Red's. "Yo, Red." He greeted the mayor.

"Yes, and just when I was starting to figure that whole center gravity thing out." Cameron chuckled. He realised that despite the weirdness of their last encounter, he felt a whole lot less embarrassed around Red than he did around his friends.

"Uh, I think I prefer to stay as I am from now on." He laughed and rubbed a hand across his forehead, hiding the blush that way. "I might have ended up playing fetch in one."

"No, most seem to be understanding. Even after I tried to eat one that changed into a cat... I think it's mostly me who has a problem with it." He said sheepishly.

He could either turn even redder or laugh, so he picked the latter and laughed with Red. "If it happens, I'll be more than happy to give you some hints.," he finally said. "It does seem to be a trend. Zero turned into a cat, Barbossa was a parrot once, Logan turned into a bunny and Beka was a hamster."

"You mean Dean Bristow taking over from Principal Connor?" Cameron asked. "It's a bit strange, but we're getting used to it. He can be a bit intimidating and is a toaster tirant, but he's fair so... I don't think anyone's got problems with it." He laughed. "Okay, anyone who wasn't roped into being part of the pageant."

"No, thank god. I had enough humiliation the week before as it was. My girlfriend got roped into it at the last minute, though." He frowned. "Which wasn't exactly fair from Bristow as mos of the others had to do it as some sort of punihsment."

"No kidding," Cameron agreed. "I just wanted to thank you for your help when I was all... fuzzy. And Castor and Pollux, of course." He grinned.

"They were fun to play with," Cameron admitted with a smile. "I can still do that, just not in a 'rolling down the stairs' sorta way."

"No and I'm not as resilient at the moment either. But thanks, I'll defnintely come and drop by when they're around."
