W&H open, Monday morning

Wesley, formally dressed in blazer and khakis, comes to W&H, unlocks the door with his newly-acquired keys, and looks around to see if there's anything he's supposed to be doing. Finding nothing, he decides to start his own research. In a bookcase in the front room there's a complete set of the Curia Regis rolls; he takes down a volume and starts looking for witchcraft and other occult practices under the reign of King John. The binding feels ... unpleasant. He can't quite describe why, but he'd rather not touch it more than he has to.

Darla arrives at the offices through her access through the sewers. She's startled to see someone other than Lilah there. "Well, well, well. This is better than donuts in the breakroom."

"I hadn't heard that your kind liked donuts."

Darla raises one eyebrow. "My kind? Has Lilah been blabbing again? Darling, it's delightful to eat donuts when you know they're not going to go straight to your hips."

"Not a snack, Darla," Lilah said, sizing up the situation as she removed her coat. "Wesley, you should probably be wearing gloves when you read that scroll. The curses bound into that particular edition transfer through the ink."

"Aarrgh!" Wesley leaps back in his chair. He hastily grabs for the shards of his dignity and asks, "What do you need done today?"

"There's some filing to be done," Lilah said, stepping casually on an escaping folder, picking it up, and handing it to Wes, "and then, if you would start cross-referencing and dating the prophecies in the cabinet behind you? Wouldn't want to miss an apocalypse, would we? Because that would be bad."

"Can I assume alphabetical order in Roman-alphabet languages, native collation order in all others? And what about languages with no written vowels? Should I assume standard interpolation techniques?" He looks a trifle smug.

"Assume away," Lilah replied, not completely clear on what Wes had just said but figuring he knew what he was talking about. Hopefully he wouldn't blow up the office. "Let me know if you run across anything specific to Fandom or that mentions a souled vampire. I'll be in my office if you have any questions."

Darla sighed. "Not a snack, no, Darla, you can't kill this one... there's no fun to be had."

Lilah smiled a saccharine smile at Darla. "You could always find somewhere else to work that better suits your unique talents. I'd hate for you to feel limited."

Darla offered the same smile back. "Where else would a bloodsucker work except for a law firm?"

"I hear Congress is nice. And the HMOs are always hiring."

"But I'd feel honor-bound to kill all the weak, sick, and pathetic people there. Also at the HMO."
