Bonfire of the Vanities
Parker, having left a voicemail for Jarod and a note on her door, is carrying a box full of stuff into the middle of the park. In the box are:
Three bottles of wine
French chocolates
Two sets of silk sheets
A blue silk shirt
sunglasses
A book
A few notes
Photos
and
Lip gloss
When she finds a metal garbage barrel, she kicks it close to the path, and puts down her box. Then she gets out her lighter.
[open to anyone-- we'll probably go to Luke's from here]

She flipped through the stack, and found the one she'd taken from Michael's room. Nodding judiciously, she put it in her pocket, then threw the rest on the fire. "A toast! To a new year, and a new semester, and no new guys forever!" She swigged more of the wine.

He clinked his bottle against hers. "To a new year."

"No, no guys. Or girls! I'm sick of it, it's all pointless. I'm not dating again until I can legally drink. We're in high school! Well, I am. I have more important things to do." She took another swig, and tossed the last of the paper on the fire.

Privately, he figured she'd last about a month.

"And I have to rule the Centre to make lots of money," Parker said in her best duh voice. "So I can take it apart and put it back together the way *I* want."
no subject
"Why can't you make lots of money doing something else, then come in, tear the Centre down, and leave it that way?"
no subject
"Because if I want to tear the Centre down, I need to know who to 'retire' to Aruba, and I can't do that if I don't work there first. And I don't think I can make enough money to just buy it for myself." Parker looked mournful, then defiant. "It's a good plan. You'll see."

She sprayed the last of the champagne from her bottled onto the fire, then looked speculatively at the only bottle left untouched. "Hmmmmmmm."
