Rare Books Shop, Wednesday

Aziraphale is busily decorating his shop for the upcoming gathering on Saturday. In addition to the ornaments his friends made at the last party, he's moved some bookcases and set up a small electric train in the corner. A swag of greenery decorates the front of the counter, and there are several old-fashioned stockings hanging from the fireplace mantle.

In the window are two flyers: one for Friday's caroling and one for Saturday's gathering.

"Hi, Mr. Aziraphale!" Kiki grins. "I'm available to work, if you need me, but first, I'm actually going to buy a couple books."

Actually, she looks a little apologetic about that.

"You're certainly welcome to work for a bit if you like, Kiki. In fact, I was planning on closing up for a short time while to run over to the clinic for tea with James, but if you'd like to cover things for me while I'm out, that would be lovely."

Aziraphale smiles reassuringly. "And I would be pleased to sell you a couple of books, my dear."

"Great," grins Kiki. She picks out two, the one on jaguars Harry had commented on the day they had been there together, and another one on the history of the Florentine Crepes and Venetian Blinders Quidditch team rivalry (occasionally war), which has been going on for 432 years straight and doesn't show a bit of a sign of slowing down anytime soon. It looks really very exciting.

Aziraphale cheerily rings up Kiki's sale -- with an employee discount, of course -- and wraps the books up for her.

"Holiday gifts, my dear?" He smiles knowingly. "I'm certain they'll be very much appreciated."

"Yes!" Kiki answers, still unable to keep the color from creeping up into her cheeks. "Thanks. I just realized that I actually haven't done any of my own shopping, since I've been so wrapped up with Secret Santa."

"You've been doing a lovely job with that, my dear. It was very thoughtful of you to set up, and I know everyone has been enjoying it immensely." He smiles, and in light of Kiki's embarrassment changes the subject. "Will you be coming to the party on Saturday?"

Kiki beams from the praise, "I'm so glad people are having fun. I've been a bit worried about the people who told me they haven't gotten anything yet, though. It's not like I can force them into anything - I just wish they'd do what they signed up to do, because it's not fair to the others. And I wouldn't miss your party for the world!" she adds.

"I'm so sorry to hear that some people aren't participating properly. Perhaps they'll come round this weekend." He looks very pleased at her answer. "I'm glad you'll be there. I'm going to try and think up some games to play, if people like. And of course there'll be food and music."

"Oh, games?" Kiki says eagerly, "There was one some of my friends in my old town used to do - they called it a... oh, a Yankee swap. That always sounded fun, it's a sort of gift exchange where you're never exactly sure until the very end what you'll end up with. I don't know many other holiday games, exactly. In my family, Midwinter wasn't really about playing games - at least, the fun was never that highly organized." She grins.

Walking in from taking care of business at the hotel, a cloud of smoke trailing behind him, it stops at the doorway. He slams the door with force and takes off his topcoat.

"ANGEL!"

Aziraphale starts at the shout and looks down from the ladder where he's draping greenery across the entry to the lounge.

"Crowley?"

Oh, hello there. Just thought I'd make a sweeping entrance. [He tosses his coat on the rack.] How's it, then?

"Honestly, dear boy, I could have fallen off the ladder and killed myself," the angel says mildly. Finishing up with the greenery, he climbs back down the ladder and wills it away with a wave of his hand.

"It's rather quiet today, but well enough. How are things at the hotel?"

Quiet. Aayla's still gone, I think. Bas has been...occupied. [he smirks], and Darla's been rather undemanding as of late. I've been tending my plants, mostly.

[He grabs himself a cup of tea.] You know, if you fell, you'd be a bloody fool to not fly a bit. You wouldn't be killed by the likes of me.

Aziraphale pours himself a cup as well, settling into one of the armchairs with a sigh. "Do you like the decorations? They're for the party Saturday. James helped me pick out the train."

James, James, James...can we have a conversation one day without him coming up? I think I liked it better when you were on about that Nutter woman. At least she was dead and not bringing garlands and leaf abuse to you.

The angel blinked in surprise at Crowley, bringing his teacup down to rest on his knee. "Of course, dear boy. I...I'm so sorry. I thought you liked James."

He sits quietly for a minute, and then says, "What would you like to talk about?"
