Paige is sitting at a table sipping a latte, surrounded my papers, she's also singing something very quietly. Everytime an NPC walks in see turns around to see who it is.

Jack shows up and grabs a seat. "Hi, Paige. Thanks for this. I think you're going to save my GPA, if not my life. I'm pretty sure I completely bombed my Criminal Justice final."

She smiles, "That's cool, I mean you did a fair bit of work on it before whatever happened, happened. You've been to the clinic right?" she asks searching through the pile for the hypothesis to show him.

"Yeah. The doctor says my memory might come back on its own, for all the good that does me now." Jack shrugs, then jumps up and orders a mocha. He comes back to the table with it and sips, enjoying the warmth. "So, what are we doing?"

"I'm sure your teachers understand, I mean this is hardly the weirdest thing to happen here."

She sips her drink, "we're doing an experiment about memory and how a positive incentive can help people remember more."

"This is the proposal you wrote," she says handing it to him Hypothesis: Competitiveness increases retention

Experiment: Two groups. Both groups are given a list of words to memorize for a set amount of time. The list is then taken away. One group (the control group) is asked to recite as many of the words on the list that they remember. The other group is asked the same thing, but at the beginning of the experiment were also given some sort of tangible object (bean, poker chip, etc.) equal to the number of words on the list. They are told that for every word missed (either forgotten or misremembered), they will lose one of their chips. Whoever has the most chips at the end "wins".

Expected result: The second group will display a statistically higher ability to retain the list of words.

Jack reads over the proposal. "Hey. I sound like I know what I'm talking about. Okay. So what we need is go to a place where there are people who are willing to study lists of words." He thinks briefly. "What about study hall? Or the library? Most people who are cramming are willing to do just about anything to take a break."

"Apparently you're pretty smart," she says, before adding, "who knew" with a smirk.

"I'd been thinking of sticking some posters up to ask for volunteers, I only have one class tomorrow so I don't mind staying in study hall and starting until you're free, we had to think of a few tasks, we both came up with a few, but I need to check if actually need to do them all or just."

She goes through her notes again, "One of my ideas was having two sets of works, I came up with ten for each set, if you could think of some more that'd be great though."

She hands him the list

Jack sticks his tongue out at her at the "who knew" crack, then laughs. "I only have one class tomorrow too, and it's pretty early, so we can trade off."

He looks over the lists of hard and easy words, and offers: "Shirt, hot, big, lick, crime, you, pen, sexy, play, light. Exaggerate, caffeinate, encyclopedia, dinosaur, tentative, legislation, participation, progressive, appropriate, spontaneous."

Paige chokes slightly at some of the words Jack suggests, particularly, hot, lick, sexy she'd clearly been missing Sawyer what with all the studying.

She makes a note of all the words besides her own, "cool, you know I think we're gonna be okay with this, we just need to hope we can get enough volunteers, we decided we'd need at least ten and you suggested pitting people directly against each other to see if that increased their competiveness. So we could try to do that, if we have enough people."

She looks at the notes again, "I can get chips from Sawyer, it seems like the sort of thing he'd have, unless you already have those? And I'll go pick up a prize from the Emporium before I head back up to the school for my band performance!"

"Anything else you can think of that we should do?"

Jack chews on his lip and totally wasn't thinking about Angel when he came up with the words. "I can't think of anything. And no, I don't have any chips. If Sawyer doesn't have any, maybe we can beg coffee beans or something off of someone. Should we meet tomorrow in the study hall? Say, about 11 am?"

"Yeah that sounds good, I'll make something to stuck up around the dorms before that then so people can come find us, if they wanna win, well something."

Jack grins. "I'd be happy to kiss the winner. Wouldn't cost us a thing. But that sounds like a really good plan."

She smirks again, "I'll bare that in mind, but erm, some people might not be too keen on that as a prize, we'll keep that in reserve okay?"

"Okay, but they don't know what they're missing. See you tomorrow?"

"No I guess thay don't their lose right?" she tells him with a small smile, more of less humouring him.

And yeah "I'll keep an eye out for you in study hall tomorrow,"

She finishes her coffee, "I'd better get going now, I have to get ready for my band final. I'll see you later Jack"
