Red's Is Open

Not normally open on weekends, Red wanted to open anyway to accomodate last minute Christmas gift tattoos. He sat at his computer looking over the options available to him from his Secret Santa gift.

The aroma of wassail still filled the air as the crockpot was once again filled to share his new found concoction with his clients and the cubs played quietly in the corner with the new chewtoys Ben brought them last night.

Morning

Ben enters, stamping his feet trying to shake off the cold. He'd lived in New York and Pittsburgh; why was the chill getting to him here? Small town living, maybe. Or just getting older. The latter thought he didn't want to dwell on. Smiling at the cubs with their new toys, he walks up to the counter. "Morning, Red."

((ooc: played quietly? Did they kill the squeaky part already? My sister's dog always manages to do that pretty quick. :P))

"I'm good. Tired, but good." He grins. "Singing and walking around in the cold for a while will do that to you. Thank you, again, for your hospitality. We appreciate it.

"I'm here on a mission this morning. Do you think you might have something like this in stock?" Ben pulls out a page printed from a website (http://www.northwoodsfalconry.com/index.cgi?rm=showitem&itemid=GC-147&cat=%2FJewelery) and lays it on the counter.

Ben examines the piece and nods. "That's very nice. I'll take it. What do I owe you?"

((ooc: Oh sure, trip out my inner ancient Egypt freak. :P))

Ben shakes his head. "The exact one isn't important. It was just a last-minute gift idea for Michael." He pauses a moment before adding, "He's had a rather sudden interest in hawks, and I thought something like this would make a nice present."

"Well..." How much should he say? Then again, Ben had already heard Tobias' secret referred to on the radio, was there anyone who didn't know? "He hired one recently. One who can transform into human form, that is."

"No, never a dull moment," Ben echoes. He hands over his credit card. "Well, it was working out well. Tobias got into a fight with some other hawks last week and got hurt. Lucky for him he had Michael to come to for help. We got him to a vet, so hopefully he'll be all right. Michael's been worried about him, and worried whether a vet was the right place to take him." Ben grimaces. "I'm pretty sure he thinks I think he's a dork for being so worried." He gestures to the pendant he's boxing up. "I wanted something to show I understood. Michael's a doting paternal type by nature, I know he's only showing that over this kid. Er, bird."

((ooc: and with the coding fixed again, third time's the charm...*headdesk*))

Ben nods as he signs the slip and returns the card to his wallet. "He was. And he didn't protest -- he can speak telepathically when he's in hawk form -- so I guess he thought it was the right place too." Ben tucks the box in his coat pocket, fingering it for a moment before pulling his hand back out. "I don't think Michael will feel better, though, until Tobias is well and back in the shop. I'm surprised he hasn't asked to build some sort of shelter for him to live in on the roof." He gives a smile. "Thanks for your help, Red. I think Michael will like this."

Ben crouches down and looks at the cubs. "Bye, guys. Don't destroy those toys too quickly."

Ben chuckles as he skritches a pair of bellies. "It took years for Michael's daughter JR to realize I wasn't going to bring her a toy every time we visited. Even now she sort of looks like she's expecting it."

"I'm sure he'll like it. It's beautiful." Ben waved as he headed for the door. "You have a good day too. See you at the party."
