Chaucer's, Sunday
After hanging up from Sonia's call, Geoff paces around the shop, worrying about the young woman and waiting for her to come and talk.

Not bothering to knock, Sonia pushes open the door and heads into the familiar, comfortable room. She looks worn, paler than usual, and her eyes are dark and haunted.

"Sonia! Come sit down, and tell me what's going on. Would you like a glass of whiskey?"

"No, thank you, I..." She trailed off, taking a deep breath before continuing. "I'm not sure how to say this. Did... I ever tell you vhat I did, before I came here?"

Geoff sits in the other chair and takes Sonia's hand. "Whatever it is, I'm sure it's not so terrible or strange that I can't handle hearing about it," he says, trying to give her a reassuring smile.

"Alright. You see, I- vell, my entire family, actually- we're vampire hunters. Since the last of the Crusades, those in our clan have been trained to fight and destroy those creatures- and one in particular, who has a habit of being resurrected every century or so."
Her eyes were cast to the floor and her voice was flat, emotionless. "He's returned, and I have to kill him. The longer he's alive, the more powerful he becomes." She shrugged. "There is no other vay."

Geoff cycles through all the possible explanations Sonia could have given him and decides that no, in fact, this one was not on the list. Still, after the things he's seen in Fandom....
"I'm guessing you'll be leaving immediately, then. Do you...know how long you'll be away?"
[ooc: No worries! :)]

She hesitates before answering his next question, if only because she's just as unsure of the answer. "I don't know how long it vill take. It might only be a few days- then again, it could be weeks." She swallows hard, eyes still on the floor. "It's.. also possible that I might not return at all."

"I hope you do, Sonia. And I hope it's soon, because I'll miss you." Standing, he leans down to give her a light kiss on the cheek, and then walks across the room and opens a cabinet. "I have something I wanted to give you."
Returning to where she's sitting, he holds something out toward her. "Happy Christmas, my lady."
It's a flat wooden box, and inside are a set of artist's charcoals and pastels.
