Red's is Open

Getting some of the men from the town hall to help, Red trotted ahead to open the shop so they could move the gift his secret santa gave him into a corner of the shop.

Castor and Pollux, sensing something new, peered around the counter. Once the men left, they crept out of their hiding place to investigate.

While Red got the shop ready for business, the cubs were all over it, sniffing at every nook and cranny until Pollux was perched on top...all the way on top of the towering thing and Castor dangled from one of the posts after being unseated by Pollux.

After stopping at the clinic which he hasn't actually done yet and a brief trip to the school, Geoff wanders into the shop. He looks pale and a little rumpled.

"I suppose I could be polite and lie to you, sir, but the fact of the matter is that I'm not having a very good day today. I thought I'd distract myself and get a little gift shopping done. I understand you sell jewelry?"

Geoff smiles weakly at Red, and looks down to give Castor a somewhat broader smile. Dropping down to his knee, he scratches the cub's ears and then rolls the jingle ball across the floor. "These are your cubs, then?" Because the mun can't remember if he's met the cubs, so let's just pretend he hasn', mkay?

Standing up again, Geoff moves to lean on the counter.

"Actually, yeah, I think I do. Bracelets, I'm thinking. Um, a woman's and two men's. And also, maybe some sort of pendant -- something celtic? That, you know, a witch might like?"

[ooc: I have some links, if you'd like them, to the sorts of things he's looking for.]

Following Red to look over the jewelry selection, Geoff says, "I was sort of looking for some very masculine (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a29/danaedark/18734244.jpg) bracelets (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a29/danaedark/3005550.jpg)." He describes the sorts of things he has in mind. "And then, also, something really pretty (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a29/danaedark/heavenlytreasuresjewelry_1876_11904.jpg), maybe with citrine (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a29/danaedark/heavenlytreasuresjewelry_1876_11350.jpg) in it -- it's for CJ."

He swallows and is quiet for a second.

Turning over the bracelets in his hands -- and he smiles a little at the fact that they are exactly what he wanted -- Geoff looks up at Red's question. "Um...I don't know if you've heard. CJ was in an accident last night, and she's in a hospital on the mainland. She was...pretty badly hurt."

He sets out three bracelets he's chosen and moves along the counter to look at some (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a29/danaedark/wiccan-glade_1875_8024407.gif) pendants (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a29/danaedark/wiccan-glade_1872_9235388.jpg).

Geoff shakes his head. "I'm not completely certain. Dr. Wilson told me she had some head trauma, and that they were operating. It...could be bad, but no one knows right yet."

He fiddles with the pieces Red has put out for him to look at, his manner very subdued. "I really don't have much information about it myself. Ten -- the Doctor -- called me last night, just to let me know. I haven't talked to him directly yet, I've been giving him some time for the chaos to settle down, and I haven't liked the idea of calling his cell at the hospital. It seems like an unnecessary disturbance, you know?" Geoff looks up at Red. "He needs to concentrate on being with CJ while he's there, and not be worrying about taking phone calls."

Setting two of the pendants apart, he says, "I'll take these, too. And...I don't suppose you know anyone in town who might do engraving? I'd like to put something on one of the bracelets, if I can find someone to do it."

"Would it take long to get it done?" He chuckles dryly. "I've waited a little late to start on this...I'm not sure why I've been putting it off. But if you think I could get back pretty quickly, I think I'd like to do that."

A little surprised at the quick turn-around, Geoff grins. "That's perfect Red, thank you!"

On the pad he writes: Trovommi Amor del tutto disarmato.

"The silver one with the gold links. Thank you again, Red. That's an amazing turn-around."

While Red rings up the sales, Geoff turns to watch the cubs playing. "They're really adorable," he says quietly.

Turning to look at Red, Geoff grins. "That's all? I seriously expected to have to try and bargain you down." He pulls some bills from his pocket and counts out $100.

"And don't tempt me about the extra $20. I've got no fur to lose, and I certainly didn't get any sleep last night, so I might as well spend the time doing something fun." He grins again, and then kneels back down to roll the jingle ball again for the cub.

((ooc: *dies* Be careful, Ben's been getting a new paternal itch to scratch, he might take you up on that.))

[ooc: Hey, he offered them to me first! But if you go halves, I'll let you have visitation rights. *grins*]

Geoff laughs out loud at the antics of the cubs. "Thank you, Red, I would like boxes if you have them." He takes his change from the counter, but his attention is still on Castor and Pollux.

Once he has the jewelry -- except for the bracelet Red is sending out for engraving -- Geoff kneels on the floor again and grins at the cubs. "Thanks, guys," he says softly.

Deciding the Christmas carol/alphabet serenade is about the most OMG adorable thing he's ever seen, Geoff laughs again as they bounce off toward the toy.

"Thanks, Red," he says, nodding goodbye to the proprietor as he scoops up his boxes and heads out.
